      • Help me to find my destination

Hello friends, I am from New Delhi. In this weekend I have to go to Chandigarh for some office work. Its a one day job and I would be having 1 day extra in hand with me i.e. sunday.

I would be going to chandigarh by my bike on saturday morning. So, I was thinking of extending my trip to have a taste of the hills.

I needed your advice about some hill stations that can done in 1 or 2 days from chandigarh.
        Please help me out guys.

Mods if there is another thread like this, please link me to it.

It has been a while when the xbhp 10th anniversary edition came out and it had the weekend getaways section. So i had promised myself i'll visit each one of those around Delhi given in the mag. Now I have an opportunity to visit alwar.

It is not very far from where is live about a 160 kms of which 50 kms is yamuna expressway so i am planning to go for the weekend with the friends and i hope to leave tomorrow.

So can you guys help me as to what places i can visit there except the siliserh lake and is it allowed to take a bike in sariska national park??

It is very short of notice to ask for help but please help me as much as you can and if possible please suggest me cheap accommodation around alwar as like always I am a little short of cash

I rode through the Sariska National park area on my motorcycle. But i doubt if a bike would be allowed into the core area of the park where animals are actually spotted. Though this will be quite a hot time of the year to go there.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

4/5 days are enough. However, not too sure about snow in October unless there is fresh snowfall. I had gone in May and it was blocked because of snow. Yogesh Sarkar (bcmtouring) has a travelog on Sach pass which he did in August. If I remember correctly, he didn't get any snow. Snow or no snow - Sach pass will always be challenging and super fun.

On a 4/5 day window from Delhi in first week of October(assuming that you are using the extended weekend) snow will be purely luck. I am not aware of the state of Sach pass in october, but you guys could do something like Delhi-Manali-Chandertal-Kaza-Manali-Delhi. Crossing Kunzum and Rohtang twice you might just be lucky to get some snow.
A few years back I was lucky enough to get snow at Rohtang in October.

Interesting question. I can think of the following places which have culinary delights
                              1. Amritsar (langar at golden temple + lots of famous shops selling indian stuff)
                              2. Jodhpur (the street near ghanta ghar. From mirch pakodas to daal bhaati - its an awesome authentic Rajasthani experience)
                              3. Pushkar (Rajasthani stuff + lots of mediterranean cuisine due to lots of foreigners living there)
                              4. DharamSala/McLeodganj (due to lots of foreigners -- an eclectic choice of cuisine is available)
                              5. Shimla (bakeries around the mall road. But strictly a one evening thing)

However, the best food I love is mutton and rice in any snow filled place. Beats everything

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of something like highway on my plate.

Btw, do we have a foodie group here? It would be awesome to meet people who are alike. Biking+food>Everything Else.
