Your plan seems bit tight. I doubt you could do Bengluru to Rameswaram and have time left to visit Rameswaram temple and Dhanushkodi. Though the road is good, its almost 600km and you could reach by evening at best. Also visiting Dhanushkodi in the morning is ideal than in the evening. I think you should add one day in between to roam in and around Rameswaram or visit Dhanushkodi by sunrise and leave straight for Bengluru.

Also you have mentioned Bengluru to Rameswaram via Madurai. Are you planning to visit Menakshi Amman Temple? If yes, add 1hr to your schedule. If you not, you can bypass Madurai and save some kms.

Re: Mumbai - Rameshwaram - Mumbai

Plan seems fine. But if you can teak a day break after riding from mumbai to bangalore it would be better. Dont just ride for sake of completing the ride as you will be fully exhausted.

BLR-Rameshwaram can be done in a day but considering June after salem you will encounter a heat wave which will dehydrate you badly.
I would recommend starting from bangalore around 3AM after taking rest the previous day and then stretch as much as you can till proper heat sets in.

Madurai - Rameshwaram will be bit toughest part considering the heat. Take appropriate brakes and maybe you can reach by 2-3PM.

FYI: There is a train at 4:00 or 4:30 crossing Pamban Bridge for a capture

For dhanushkodi first check with the weather, recently my friend went and there was some Tsunami warning and the road to the end was closed. Start from rameshwaram around 6:30 7:00 in morning to experience a decent weather and minimal crowd.

On your first leg, stay at Tumkur and then take NICE ring road to bypass Bangalore. On your return leg stay at Chitradurga. See my thread P2K=3K in the tourer section

Yes the plan is tight due to lack of holidays but yea will be chipping an extra day into it to relax. Don't want to just complete the ride.

Madurai is optional and will depend on my start from banaglore.

Thanks a lot for the pointers

              Thanks msuthar25

Yes, the temperature prediction shows a hot climate. Will be chipping in a day to have a relaxed ride than being on the edge for the entire trip.

Have my options open to ride towards coonor/kotagiri for a better weather than rameshwaram and have a good day or two to explore the ghats.

Rameshwaram might get a bit postponed to the winter's due to these heat waves and will be a part of the my entire south trip from covering rameshwaram, kanyakumari, most of kerela , goa and then towards mumbai in the winters.

Thanks for the pointers and all the details !

              Your TLogs are nice.

Great if you can postpone Rameshwaram to next winters. Ooty is always a great option in monsoons, rains have already started and its lush green around there this time. Let me know when you are in Bangalore if possible can tag along for Ooty ride if you dont mind
