  • Vadodara, Rann of Kutch from Delhi – Motorcycle

    Folks

    Need some help/ suggestions here.

I have a function to attend at Baroda/ Vadodara on the 24th September (Monday). I am planning to ride from Delhi & would leave on the 22nd and hope to reach Baroda by noon on the 23rd.

I would depart Baroda on the 25th and plan to rode to the Rann of Kutch via Dholivira which is about 467 kms (apprx 9 hrs as per Google). I should reach by 5 pm and plan to stay at Dholivira.

Plann to explore the Rann on the 26th & i guess half a day should be sufficient for that.

Then i plan to head back to Delhi and hope to reach Udaipur (514 kms) that day (looks tough though)

The final leg would be to Delhi.

Am i missing something here ? Please suggest.

Also i am confused between riding the Thunderbird 350 or the KTM Duke 390, please help.
Plus the things that i need to carry or be aware of as this is my first solo long ride. (though i have been to Ranikhet earlier)

    Cheers

    Ajay

Suggest you ride the KTM 390 for a reliable and quick ride pace.

I took 13 hours for Delhi>Udaipur and 5 hours for Udaipur>Vadodara [via Godhra] in 2016. The details are here.

Take a bike that will be comfortable for you to ride that long! AFAIK, the seats on the Duke 390 are hard and cramped. But you will need the power to reach there in the time frame you have given. I had done from Bangalore to Delhi via Pune, Thane, Udaipur and Delhi. I had a 650 with me, so i was able to make it with less efforts and enough breaks to keep me hydrated. Left from Thane at 8 am and reached Udaipur by 8 pm.

You should be able to reach Udaipur easily in half a day. I mean in 10 hours if you have that time in hand. Else you can always look for a room 100 kms before Udaipur, take rest and leave early the next day.
