Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
Tire pressure is subject to individual discretion and the load factor. If one doesn't know what pressure to use, just follow the manual. Because what suits one would ultimately not suit another.Originally posted by siddharaj74 View Posthey , can you please share the source???
because my owner's ,manual says
Front : 29 psi
Rear : 29/32 psi
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
Use normal pressure if you're solo, use the max pressure if you are adding any weight since it compensates for the load on the tires.Originally posted by siddharaj74 View Postokay. I just asked because it was the same bike and I was confused what to follow....

Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
The same, as you would normally use when riding solo. You see a pillion is much different than a viaterra claw, it adds just the right amount of grip for the wheels when loaded. So if you have a pillion for long stretches or highway use, use the pillion psi rating, else for saddlebags, claw other bags solo pressure can handle it with no problem at all.Originally posted by siddharaj74 View PostAlso , I had another question, which may sound 'stupid'..
The manual gives two different values for solo and pillion rider , which of the the two do I use , with a packed viaterra claw on the rear seat ??
Cheers!

Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
Nitrogen has slightly more advantages than compressed air, but if you can get Nitro, then go for it, else you can use compressed air with absolutely no problem.Originally posted by siddharaj74 View PostThanks bro , thanks a lot .
Another query ,
Should I use Air or Nitrogen ??
Cheers!

Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
Sup guys!
Went through this thread completely. Recently got a '91 Yamaha RX-100, and iam unsure about what tyre pressure i should maintain? Can anyone help me with this, i checked the side-wall but iam still unsure.
p.s- on a side note, is it ok to add 40ml of oil for every litre of petrol filled into the tank? Or should it be 30ml for every 1L?

Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
Royal Enfield classic 350 s recommended tyre pressures are 20/30 psi (F/R) without pillion and 22/32 psi (F/R) with pillion.
so upto how much pressure can we inflate the tyres to ? when i checked the tyre pressures of my bullet it was 37 psi even after one month of delivery.. i later reduced it to recommended pressures..

Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
Duke 200 , after filling the air for the recomended pressure , front for 25 psi and rear for 28 psi it lasts only for a week. After a week the rear comes to as low as 14 psi front almost 23 psi. I ride to hometown and back during weekends total 400 kms
Is this normal for rear tyre to lose so much pressure after a week ?

Re: The Tyre Pressure Thread!
Honda Dream Neo
Front: 80/100 - 18M/C 47p
Rear: 80/100 - 18M/C 54p
Tyre pressure:
Front: 25psi(both)
Rear: 41psi(33 psi)
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Mine Losing around 7psi per week.. Rear will lose faster. But it is good idea to see if any leakages by spraying water over tyre surface.Originally posted by ramos View PostDuke 200 , after filling the air for the recomended pressure , front for 25 psi and rear for 28 psi it lasts only for a week. I have also got a handpump(150Rs) and pressure gauge (250Rs) so i can check every 2 days

Recommended tyre pressures are essentially COLD TYRE PRESSURE, always.
If you've ridden your vehicle for approx 2Kms or so, or if it were parked in sunlight for too long, or any other condition causing the heat to build up, the pressure too will vary (GL law of gasses)
.
This is anticipated by manufacturer, and hence the COLD TYRE PRESSURE indication is provided, so that under Operating conditions, there will be room for gasses to expand and provide optimum inflation without blow outs.
SO, Ideally speaking tyre pressure will be MORE when checked in HOT Conditions. and at such times, its better left alone.
In case you take your vehicle to tyre guy, he wont consider TEMP factor, and just Deflate the HOT tyre to COLD pressure, and when your tyre actually cools down, it will be under inflated.
Hence always check tyre pressures, inflate tyres, at start of day/start of journey when the tyre hasn't run a lot and is essentially cold.
