    Tyres for Yezdi / Jawa : 3.25x16

    I couldn't find a thread on this regard, so starting a new thread. If available, please merge.

    I'm running one of my Yamaha RX with 16" rear wheel, this should help the fellow Yezdi / Jawa owners and the one with 16" wheels on RX & Shogun (and other bikes as well)

    After a brief search, I'm left with only MRF & ARL tires.
    - Do other brands produce this tire size?
    - I remember CEAT had this spec, is it still in production?
    - Anyone using ARL tires here? Please share your review
    - Compare different brands in terms of Grip, Life, Comfort, etc

      Check with BM Lal (near satyam theater) if you haven't. These guys usually stock/can procure tires for such odd cases.
      Yes Ceat (and even Dunlop) had a tire in this size a couple of years ago.. not sure about the situation now.
      Check at the dealer and make sure the tire you buy is not too old (less than a year/18 months preferably).
      MRF should be a safe bet imo.

        MRF is available in market but the recently manufactured ones were quoted a premium (upto 2.5k)

          I recently bought a 1989 model rx 100. Want to replace 18 inch rear tyre to that of 16 inch yezdi tyre. I am in hyderabad so where i can get it and how much i need to spend

            MRF Moto D is available in 3.25 x 16" size. It has stud type tread.
            Call the MRF helpline, they will guide you to an authorized dealer/distributor. MRP is INR 1572/- (including taxes).
            No premium.
            Ceat Secura 3.25 x 16 tyres are out of production and weren't available in most places I checked.
            About ARL tyres, I had to use the ARL tyre for my rear wheel as the older tyre was worn beyond measure. I had a intercity trip 400kms on the highway exclusively. And thereafter within the city about 2000kms over the past year.
            Grip - Good, but I didn't attempt to push limits i.e. checking cornering ability.
            Life - New tyre, so don't know yet. Comfort - Yes, it is comfortable.
            Reliable - Yes. Why not? It didn't ditch me on the highway or any place else.
            MRF Ribbed Front tyres in 3.25 x 16 are available in used condition with a few guys Approx. INR1200/- without tube.

              The YJ club in Mumbai got the tyres made from Speedway. These r knobby tyres and they r good. Infact one guy has rode d entire of India on those tyres n swears by them.

                  Google "Nair Developers Nashik", he has MRF (used - 85-90% tread remaining) line pattern tyres approx. Rs. 1100/- for tyre and 200-300 for tube. He will courier it to you as well.

                  Mods if it doesn't fit into xbhp policy, pls delete.
