Ok,when you go in for a tubeless tyre the first thing that the dealer does is that when you have ordered the tyre he rubs a cloth dipped in diesel on the inner lining of the tyre,so that it becomes soft as with the material of the tyre diesel reacts and makes it a bit soft and then it is easy going and becomes easy for the tyre to grip the alloy... same it is here..if the rubber has gone worn out OR hardened ,it gets soft once again...
    You can try it..

        • L.P. your post was very thorough and informative.

Could you specify what tyres are available for the front in 18" sizes for:

          1. 3.00x18
          2. 90/90x18 (you've specified only one IRC in your post, any more?)

          TIA

          • need good tyres for my xtreme.went hunting in chennai here r the prices:
            Dunlop monster : Rs 1200.

            Ralco 120/90-18 = Rs 1600.(1year warranty)

            zapper q not available anywhere.

            FKR ranger 120/80-18 = Rs 1750.

Tvs jumbo near 1k i think.

please suggest a good tyre. if mileage takes a little hit thats ok. i need a tire that offers good grip dont care if it doesnt last long .also the front one zapper fs sucks.

Bete if u can't utilize a Tyre to its fullest then it doesn't mean it is not a good tyre. Aankh band karne se duniya dark nahin ho jaati hai.

I have used both MRF and Geo Cruiser. I am not going on track and geo cruiser gives me enough cornering capability to hold myself on the tarmac.

but whatever ur opinion on Geo cruiser.Geo cruiser is worst tyre whether u r going on track or road.this tyre has a tendency to bounce if u r cruising at triple digit speeds(par aap toh iss speed par saal mein ek do baar hi jaate ho,jaisa ki main aapke barein mein jaaanta hu).i also used this tire in my pulsar for 24k kms.aur yeh sirf beech mein se hi ghista hai chaahe hawa 20-25 psi karke bhi dekh lo bhaiya.

                • Rubbing diesel on tyres?? Definitely not something I would do... solvents are known to weaken rubber. Don't take the risk!

                    • i also do use geocruiser, nd dont know why people say its the worst

i am kinda happy with it, have a little bounce, but not at 3digit speed i think, but thats ok, dont want to compare geocruiser with others for i havent used a lot of them, but definately its not the worst

It is a lot better when it comes to Value For Money than it's costlier counterparts. How many times do we actually cruise at triple digits? And why are we forgetting its cornering capabilities? I have used Geo Cruiser for more than 55K on my bike and there has never been a single corner I felt that I will not be able to make it. We are not going to corner at triple speeds for sure. Whatever said and done I will still not take "worst" as the right word for this tyre. There is no limit to have a best tyre. You can go for 20K Michelin and still you have flaws in it. In front of those tyres M45 should be the King Of Worst tyres if we go by our parameters to judge the tyre. I can vouch for Geo Cruiser since I have used it for 65% of my bike's mileage. I have used MRFs and they get hard as they age. Maybe they have been improved, MAY BE.

                        • HI guys ,

I'm still learning these numbers based on the tyre sizes could one of you please explain to me what these numbers signify ??

                          for example : 90/90 -17.. 80/90- 17... 120/90-18

                          Thank you.

                          cheers

                          • Opinion required.

                            Hey guys,

Have done some hunting a couple of places in Bangalore for tyres for Pulsar 200 cc,

                            Original Tires - MRF Zapper
                            Rear - 120/80 17 inch.
                            Front - 90/90 17 inch.

                            Options i figured out,
1.Michelin Sirac about the same size for the rear.
Michelin 3.00 something for the front.
(Not to sure about the exact name but i guess you guys would have figured out)

                            2. IRC
                            Rear 130/70 17 inch.
                            Front 90/80 17 inch.

Michelin is tubetybe and the latter is Tubeless so i preferred the tubeless type as an option -

Now can any of you experts give in your opinion on this,,,
                            a. Are the tyres good in aspect of grip mainly on wet roads and for leans.
                            b. Life of the tires.

                            Cheers

                              X/Y-Z

X= Width of the tyre in millimeters.
Y= Height of the tyre sidewall as a percentage of the width. Also know as the aspect ratio.
Z= The diameter of the tyre's inner rim in inches.

                              So 100/90-17 means:
                              - 100mm is the width of the tyre
                              - 90% of 100mm=90mm is the height of the tyre sidewall
                              - 17 inches is the tyre's inner rim size.

" 90 " is actually called the Aspect Ration of the Tyre...
