Update: I have upgraded the complete rear parts from Apache RTR 180. The swing arm, rim (17") and disc brakes. I got it from Pudupet (Chennai) and it costed Rs. 5,500 for all included. I am liking the upgrade so far.

Wow, 5500₹ is a very reasonable price, considering you had a whole disc assembly to add. I got a front disc brake installed on my 1st bike in 2006. Had to shell out 4k back then.

Yes, 5.5K was a throw away price. Actually it was from a a thrown away bike . The parts were from a scrapped Apache RTR 180.

It included,

1. Swing arm
2. Chain spraket
3. 17" rim
4. TVS tyre
5. Chain guard
6. Disk brake assembly









I gave back the TVS tyre. With this assembly the chain length has to be increased by 4 links as the tyre in this case will move little to the back.

When I went to change the tyre (TL), I was about to be cheated some additional Rs. 250. This was the second time I see it happenning. Here are the tips to escape those greedy dealers,

Wow. Nice upgrade. I'm also thinking of switching to 17" rims. BTW, RTR 160 started coming with 17" rims since 2012. So 17" rims of drum brake model are available as well.

I'm looking for front tubeless tyre of size 90/90-17 and rear TL tyre of size 110/80-17 or 100/90-17. Since the bike won't be used for any hardcore cornering, I'm looking at something which has a good balance of grip and puncture resistance(since I'm used to the puncture-proof nature of TVS tyres )

I'm thinking of using Zapper FS 90/90-17 for front. Zapper C for rear.
However, Zapper C seems difficult to find everywhere. So please let me know the other options in the sizes mentioned and prices as well, if possible.

For overall performance I find mrf zapper fy is better...especially during hard braking...never failed me.

Zapper S in front

Need some advice from the experts on the forum.

I recently got a new set of tyres for my NS and the dealer has fitted Zapper S (100/80 17) as the front tyre.
From the MRF website, it states that this is meant to be used a rear tyre (and most front tyres have a prefix of F – eg Zapper FQ, Zapper FS)

My main concern is the performance of the tyre in wet conditions as it lacks a central groove. Attached a pic below from google results.
Searching this thread and from google results I read that the presence of a central groove in the front tyre is not a compulsion – with the condition that the tyre has an alternate design that will help with the water removal.

Experts, please can you let me know if I should get the tyre exchanged for another one in the F series?
If anyone else has used Zapper S as a front, share your experience in monsoon or slushy conditions

will be greatly thankful if anybody clears my confusion, Need a new set of tyres for my p200ns

so decided on these

Front-Pilot Street Radial,MRF revz fc,Zapper S (Will Choose Michelin if i can get a good bargain)

Rear -MRF REVZ C (150/60),REVZ S,Pilot Street Radial,(Will Choose Michelin if i can get a good bargain)

for front i will choose based on availability and cost

and for rear (mainly need suggestion for these as the search function in the forum is not working at least for me)Will the REVZ C be a direct fit on the p200NS ,will it avoid contact with the rear swing arm and along the circumference of the tyre,does the tyre hugger need to be removed to accomodate the REVZ C

The ZapperS was fitted by Laxmi Tyres (Kasarwadi). He kept insisting that we can use it as a front tyre and he has fitted them on many FZs with no complaints.
I had a talk with the Laxmi Tyres dealer in city (near Mangala theater) on monday morning. They agreed that this was not meant to be used on front and called me in for a replacement and offered Zapper FX. The price of a new FX was 1950 as compared to the 2000 for the ZapperS. The difference was refunded to me.

In parallel, I had mailed MRF regarding this query late evening on Friday. They were kind enough to call me on Monday afternoon and take all the details about the make of the bike and the tyres fitted. They called back in half hour and told Zapper S is not suitable to be used as a front tyre and that it was meant for the R15 V1 rear. They suggested a tyre in the Zapper F__ (S/X/Y) series.
In addition, they took the details of the dealer who fit the Zapper S and said they will have a talk with them.
They called twice more to check if the matter was resolved.
In total 3 calls from Sarvana Kumar and another call from someone whose name is missed - both from the marketing department.

Thanks to both Laxmi Tyres for not creating too much fuss in replacements and specially to MRF for following up on small queries.

I would like to have some help from tyre experts here.

I have a honda dream neo running on TVS (ATT750K) 80/100 - 18 TL tyres. Please advise if a 100/90 - 18 TL (zapper Y or Zapper Q) can be considered as an upgrade? Apart from loss of FE, can there be any other negative effects of the upgrade.

Hi Abhi, I dont think that might b a big problem..100/90 18 TL will fit without a hassle. And the FE too wont get affected much. Couple of days back i saw one twister with 110 sec tyre. The only thing is sourcing those mentioned tyres..

As from past two months i was hunting for 120/80 18 TL for my zma...as none of them were available from ceat or mrf. But luckily got one from CEAT.

MRF are running short in market..
