Right after the installing the tyres, the handling feels so weird. I am absolutely clueless. I opted for correct size tyre but the handling is so different. The problem is that the fronts seems too heavy. When i turn the handle towards one direction, the bikes feels dragged towards that direction. Any suggestions?
I am not an expert, but my understanding is that this is because of your choice of tyres. Metzeler tyre is a soft compound if I am not mistaken. This might be the reason why you might be facing resistance when moving the tyre. Also, the choice of going for Ceat at the rear which does not give the same amount of grip might be the reason for the weird handling. And also please the check the tyre pressure.

Coneset was replaced, psi was corrected. Actually ceat is surprisingly having pretty decent grip. Much better than contigos. The front is still not as nimble as it used to be. May because of Metz. Btw previously also i was using psd at front which was also soft compound.

Btw psd at front lasted for a good 25000k, had zero punctures and still had some life left.

          Ciao folks!,

Got the Michelin PSR stock profiles installed on my 200D over the weekend.

Went to a automated tire fitment center close to my home to change tires but they refused to remove the wheels and asked me to have the wheels removed at the ASC (lack of tools and not to take risk is what they said) and get the wheels and the new tires. Initially I enquired at the Rajajinagar SVC over phone for the tire change for which they quoted 800 bucks (I know its insane, no surprise there! ) .

Visited the SVC for wheels removal and the job card estimating 300 was made for/and wheels were removed which was followed by an amazing job at the automated tire fitment at Shiva's auto service at Dr.Rajkumar road for 70 bucks and I was so happy I actually paid him 100 bucks!

Now the wheels were fitted back on the tire and thanks to the mech at the svc who sprayed chain lube excessively that ended up on the disc rotors and what next is the rear brake feels like wood (I was standing on the brake pedal and it shows no sign of slowing down a bit) No bite whatsoever!

Cam back home bought a pack of Vim liquid detergent and tried cleaning the rotors and after riding for close to 85 kms now it is improved a wee little bit but still no bite as such, will need to visit Auto service banashankari this weekend!

          First impressions so far,

Rear tire though is of stock profile looks wider (flat) than the stock (round).

Front felt heavy (difficulty in steering) right away despite having appropriate PSI/pressure (blame the air pressure gauge at the tire change shop)
Went to shell to fuel up and corrected the pressure once again and now the feedback from the front is pretty good.

Rode in the moderate rain yesterday and there was no wheel spin at all upon quick downshifts and with whatever little braking the rear does I was so much impressed.

Completed 100 kms this morning. Taking the break-in period pretty cautiously! Will keep posted on how the tires performs for next few hundred kms.

Yes the correct tire pressure plays a crucial role during the initial days of the new tire and cone set as you have already got fixed. Have a safe break-in miles ahead!

          Cheers,

                Hello,

I just changed the tires for my Pulsar 200NS from stock EuroCRAP (25k old) to Michelin Pilot Street Radial 110/70 R17 and 150/60 R17. Hoping to get much improved grip and handling now.

Bike is so much more eager to lean with the new set. I was scared almost for the first time I leaned.

Well the question I have is, what should be the optimum air pressure I should use now?? For the Stock EuroCRAP tires the OEM recommended values were 25psi Front and 28psi Rear (32psi with pillion). The tire guy told me that since the Michelin tires are Radial ones, they should be filled with much higher pressure. He said 30psi for front and something like 36-40 for Rear.

Can the gurus throw some light on what should be the optimum aire pressure??

                Thanks a lot.

I asked yesterday in BLR and it was something like 9000 (IIRC for 110/70 and 130/70 or 140/70) bucks at one place. Most of the dealers didnt have it in stock.

Asked at Millivision lalbag road. He quoted 9000/- or thereabout for Pair of PSD. But he quoted almost 2k more for Michelin PSR pair than few others on JC Road, so I am not sure if his prices for PSD are the best ones.

One more dealer on JC road quoted: 6500/- for 130/70 17 and 4300/- for 110/70 17 for PSD.

I didn't ask much other than these places as I was not really interested in PSD.

Nope. Piece of cake. Many have done it before for 200NS.

Gurus, please comment on the tire pressure issue I am facing. OEM pressure values are 25/32 psi for front/rear. I had 31/45psi from the tire shop after fitting. It was feeling alright, infact a little less air in rear tire. But when I discovered on petrol bunk its 45psi, I reduced it to 36psi. Now it feels way under-inflated though its significantly more than 32psi (with pillion) OEM value.

I am worried that too less pressure might screw up the side walls of the tires.

Please check the website of the tyre manufacturer for correct tyre pressure. I always maintain 25 Psi for front and 32-34 PSI for all the 2 wheelers I ride. There has never been any problem. Visual and ride feel way of assessing the correct tyre pressure is not accurate at all.

I recall having read somewher that the majority of the 2 wheelers tyres have a upper limit of 35 PSI ( when cold) but the petrol bunk wallas usually fill 40 psi for back and 35 psi for front.

                              Hope this helps.

Got the new Michelin Pilot Street Radials 110/70 R17 and 150/60 R17 for my D200 last weekend. Stock MRF front was almost bald and rear one got 5 five punctures and started giving me shocks. Got them from Cherry's JC road. I was planning for the famous Michelin 140/70, but heard that they came up with the duke stock size tires now. Still running in and just about 60 or 70 km old now.

                                First impressions:
                                1. Tires look very good on the bike, has a lot of treads compared to MRF and can now avoid random stranger asking questions about why the tire is so bald. It looks a lot normal now.
                                2. More rounded profile than the stock tires. I feel like only a narrow area is in contact with roads . The bike tends to lean automatically on corners. Front tire feels a bit hard to maneuver. I am still getting used to it.
                                3. It already started raining in Bangalore and had a fair bit of wet road ride from office. Here is the biggest difference i felt from the stock. It feels a lot in control and grippy in wet road. This what the treads are used for.

Hope fully a very worthy upgrade.
