              • Id been to Metro last month to check out tyres for my P150 V2. he quoted 2400/- for a 110/80-17" rear IRC....at that time I thought it was too expensive considering people have bought IRCs for much lesser....not from Mumbai though

                • i want to change the rear tire on my RTR. If i put a 110/90 MRF Zapper Q tire on the back..would that change the acceleration or speed characteristics of my bike?

                    • Finally got down to changing the rear tyre of my Shogun.

Got swindled in the process - the actual tyre that the shop handed to me was 2.75 x 18 Dunlop Challenger instead of 3.00 x 18 which is the stock size. Whats worse is they fitted a 3.00 x 18 tube on the smaller tyre... damn unsafe!!

Went back to fight with them the next day, but they refused to believe that anything was wrong as the smaller tyre works perfectly on the Shogun! What is more, they acted as if they did something good by passing on a narrower tyre, as it would afford better fuel efficiency! Wont get into details but it was pretty clear that its a planned swindle!

The shop is called Gurunanak Auto Spares in Nana Peth. Beware of such shops. To put it briefly, these guys dunno zilch about tyres and their own business. You risk your life and money by buying from such shops.

Anyway I got rid of the 1 day old smaller tyre by selling it off to another dealer near my place... at a loss of Rs. 225 something. Retained the 3 x 18 Dunlop tube and bought a Dunlop Challenger 101 of the same size (see pic).

Preliminary review of the Challenger and the Challenger 101 - As I'v driven both the tyres just for a day, its way too early to make a lot of comments. But what seems quite noticable is that the ordinary looking Challenger was better at grip and handling than the fancier looking Challenger 101. If anybody is considering a Dunlop, I'd recommend the Challenger over the Challenger 101... even though the 101 looks much better and thicker. Cant comment on the wet grip yet... as have used both only for a day on city roads.

M45's are better than the stock Zappers in terms of grip as these are made of soft compound which wear off faster than the the zappers..and it costs 1800/- here in pune..!!
