There's an IRC in 110/80-17". Dont know the model number but the pattern seemed pretty good. I was quoted 2400/- for it a month ago in Mumbai.

        • hehehe...yeah saw that! Lucky guys!
By the way, I have just bought MRF tubeless tyres and have been given adapter valves to fit in my P150 UG2 alloy wheels. How do I go about fitting these? I think I also need valves for tubeless tyres, which would have to be put in the adapter valves....
          Help me guys.......

            • I was told by MRF that the regular hole of a non-TL wheel wont accomodate the valve (nozzle) of a TL tyre. So they gave me an adapter valve to fit it. But I wasnt given the main valve. Any idea? 'Cos i way too confused!

For the front, choose between the MRF Zapper FS or FV 2.75x18.

For the rear, Michelin M45 3.00x18 or Zapper Q 90/90-18 or Dunlop Monster 90/90-18.

                      • Hey guys, while inquiring about tyres for my Shogun, I got a quote for Continental tyres!!

Prices quoted were Rs. 700 without tube for front tyre (2.75 x 18) and Rs. 1,050 for rear (3 x 18) with tube.

Any idea how Continental tyres are? Since they make premium tyres for cars, I'm inclined to belive they might be better than most Indian brands. Anybody tried them yet?

                        • The ones on cars are Modi-Continental... aren't they?

The tyres for bikes are Metro Continental...

Last year when I was looking for replacing my Vitcor's rear tyre I went out with Rs 850 in my pocket and realized that most tyres cost over 1K and tube separate... Found one suitable Metro Continental 3.0 x 18 tyre with tube for Rs 875, bargained it down to Rs 850 and bought it... purely on Continental's name.

About 9000 Kms down the line, I am happy with its grip & handling... thrice, under hardbraking, the bike didn't loose its line... once just two hours back when a girl on a new active zoomed past me swinging either side and eventually ripped out a Honda City's front bumper... Good that I braked hard and the Uni guys behind me too had his eyes on the road, she'd have sure hit me after hitting the car if I didn't slow down and both the Activa and Victor would've kissed the tarmac...

oh, BTW, should I mentioned that she had no lid, slowed down to look back, gave a girly wicked smile and went ahead at full throttle... missing another 800 ahead narrowly!!!

                          • Metro/Modi Continental?? I was under the impression they were ONLY Continental!? At least thats what the dealer said on the phone. Will have to check it out. Hasn't Continental just set up shop in India (at least for car tyres... till now not heard of 2 wheeler tyres)?

Well, rear tyres can be had here in Poona for about 850 / 900 or so (Dunlop/Ceat/TVS/etc, without tube)... if you know where to buy from.

How do these Metro Continental of yours perform on high speed highway runs? Is the grip good, in general? How do they compare with Dunlops etc? Good that they worked for you in the city at least...

The tyre has a good feel. I tried two highway runs doing 70-80 KMPH for 30-40 KMs one way... I find it good. (I generally take the R15 out for the highway... but then, being used to the R15's amazing handling, I am yet find a fault with this tyre!). Cannot compare it to Dunlops or Ceats as I haven't ridden another Victor with those tyres on. And among the other Speldours, Passions and Hoodibabas I rode off late, I feet them not as good and as such the Victor handles better & is more stable than those bikes.

The tyre didn't throw any tantrums during the monsoons either. I was discussing this with Ravi earlier... surprisingly good quality for the price I've paid.

Yes, though there is no loss of grip, my stock TVS tyre had a better feel while cornering
