@Aryan: A few things bout these tyres on our bikes....
- As the tyres grow old in age, the rubber compound changes properties and what once held a repaired puncture might not be be hold air. So even properly repaired punctures start giving away once the tyre has aged.
- Do this, sit down with a mug of water and examine each and every small cut/hole on the tyre by putting a little water over it. If there is a puncture either it will start forming bubbles of air Or the area around the puncture will dry up quicker than other wet parts of the tyre. Simple DIY to locate the punctures if not visible with a quick inspection.
- I have seen your tyre and do agree that the tread is in excellent condition, if these punctures do not get fixed you still might have to get a new tyre.
- Other possible causes for leaking air can be a bent rim, valve gone kaput, or the seal of the tyre against the rim is no longer sealing.
- If you can locate a proper puncture repair guy, get the tyre removed and have it examined for punctures from the inside.
- If all else fails you have a few nice tyre options awaiting you.
PS: I am pretty sure you can still continue using this tyre by getting it fixed, I had changed my ride's tyres at 25K when the treads had worn out and was facing similar issues with air loss. So your tyre is definitely good to go for another few thousand kms....

@Praful: There are 2-3 nails still embedded on the tyre. I can see that with my eyes. It's just that I haven't found a guy who would repair these properly. So, I have just those 3 nails inside, and removed one BIG nail and somehow repaired it myself.

If the nails are too small to be pulled out then you would have to remove the tyre and push out the nails from the inside.Originally posted by Aryan View Post@Praful: There are 2-3 nails still embedded on the tyre. I thought, if I let the nails stay in, may be it's okay, but I am not sure whether those are leaking air. I am frustrated to the level, that I am even thinking of getting the darn tyre changed itself!Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostIf the nails are too small to be pulled out then you would have to remove the tyre and push out the nails from the inside.:)

Nails staying is not too much of a problem. I rode all the way from Mumbai-Bangalore and did another 2K odd kays with the nail inOriginally posted by Aryan View PostI thought, if I let the nails stay in, may be it's okay, but I am not sure whether those are leaking air. , but the longer it stay more it will embedded into the tyre be difficult to remove.
You're air leaks are definitely due to the 3 nails, I would suggest that you get the punctures fixed by removed the tyre. As its a more cost effective solution than changing the whole tyre, more so coz you have loads of tread depth still left!
@Bangalore Guys: Apart from Sai Iyengar is there any other place that sells 17" Michelin Sirac's?Last edited by Praful; 07-23-2009, 03:11 PM._________________________

R15 rear tyre issues
Hi Guys
I have been having some problems with the rear tyre of my R15, I hope some of you can help me, especially the Mumbai xBhp members.
I had repaired about 5 punctures on my R15 last month, using the sticky liquid sealant. This was done at a road-side mechanic's place. Now whenever I inflate the rear tyre, it leaks air slowly, and is completely flat at the end of the day. I have shown it to three different tyre "mechanics", but they cant seem to find any more punctures! Wht could the air leakage be attributed to?
In any case, I decided to replace the tyre, even though it is just 2,800km old. However, the MRF strike means that the Zapper S is virtually non-existent with Mumbai MRF dealers (I have tried Sign and Metro). Does anyone know where I can source the tyre in Mumbai? Please help!

@Praful: Saar, any idea as to how much a 100/90 18" M45 would cost?
And is a 110/90 M45 available? If yes, cost of that too please
Im gonna be getting a no due refund from college and am planning on swapping the Zma's 3k km run rear for an M45. Im guessing i can sell the Zapper for about 400 bucks to the shop itself.I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.
