hi rahul, how is the sirac behaving on pukka road. Also Have you done some off roading with this tyre? What was your stock tyre settings? If it was 100/90 did you have to make any mods to get it fitted? Also any noticeable changes in performance? Sorry too many questions. Ya man. It was really 110/80 17". I was really amazed to find an exact match. But i dont have so much money now after having changed the tyres recentlyOriginally posted by lijok View PostBro, can you give me details of that IRC tyre? See this is why i was so skeptical about the R15 tyres performance on the 180. Well then, tough luck. You now have two options:Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostI recently changed my apache 180's tires to MRF Zapper FS and S for the front and rear. Now the problem i am facing is that my bike has lost quite a lot of straight line stability which is easily understandable while riding at low speeds in narrow lanes. I know that is because i have downshifted from 110/80 stock tyre to 100/80 Zapper S. Although the grip of this tyre is awesome, im feeling really uncomfortable at the loss of the stability and hence would like to change back to the stock size.
Now the question is that i dont really have many options if i want to stick to 110. I could only find IRC here in my city at one shop and the shopkeeper is asking 2800 for that. Thats way to costly for me especially considering the fact that i recently spent money on new tyres. The other option i have is to change back to the stock TVS tyre but i will have to buy a new one again coz i sold off the old one
. And the main problem with TVS tyres are their horrible grip on wet.
The other option i have is to change to 120/80. I have a few options like Zapper C, Dunlop Magic, Ceat. But im skeptical again at the idea of not sticking to the stock size because the chassis is not built for this size.
So what would you guys suggest me other than sticking to the Zapper S? What will be the pros and cons of putting a 120 section and if it is advisable then which one to go for?
Keep riding for some more months and when you have the money you can replace it with the IRC
or As the R15 tyres are in huge demand, you can immediately sell it and settle in for IRC.
Btw, For how much did you sell the TVS tyres?

For a mere 300 for both the front and the rear.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostSee this is why i was so skeptical about the R15 tyres performance on the 180. Well then, tough luck. You now have two options:

Raj, your bike's height will definitely go up.Originally posted by basumataryraj View Posthi gaurav, I have a question for you. My stock settings are 100/90 18. As mentioned above I can go 4 a sirac. However, you mentioned that the new tyre will be wider and taller. I understand that the section width will increase to 120 from 100. However, the section height will decrease from 90 to 80. Correct me if i am wrong. I dont want height of the bike increased as it is already very high. Also, somewhere in the internet i find people using michelin tyres as tubeless although they are tube type. What is your take on this? Finally other than sirac is there any other dual purpose tyre from michelin in india? Raj
On stock tyres, the section height is 90% of 100mm : 90mm x 2 : 180mm
On the Sirac's, the section height is 80% of 120 : 96mm x 2 : 192mm.
So basically, the height goes up by 12mm or 1.2cm. Correct me if I am wrong here.
Other than the Sirac, M45 too is dual purpose.

you dint get tubeless for 180 ? i see in site they mentioned as tubeless.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostFor a mere 300 for both the front and the rear.
Jus for 300 ? for that you could have kept it yourself for situations like this.
Rides: HH SPl (2000-2005) | TVS Vic GLX (2005-2010) | S GS150 R (Current)
Gears: Scoyco JK -17 | Cramster Twister | Cramster Bionics | Vega Boolean

Now I dont understand why do we multiply it with 2. the bike height would depend on the distance from the axle to the ground and not the Diameter of the tyre. So 100/90 = 90% of 100 mm = 90mm & 120/80= 80% of 120 mm= 96 mm. hence the substantial increase in the height would be 6mm. M45 is for urban use and not meant for Off Road terrain unlike Sirac which is at ease in both On Road and Off Road conditions.

I still dont understand and beg to differ.Originally posted by GoGreen View PostThe height will depend on the distance from the axle to the ground and from axle to the top (towards the seat ). That is why it is multiplied by 2.
The height of the bike depends upon the distance from ground to axle.that would more or less be the radius of the entire tyre set up. Cant still figure out how would the diameter of the entire section come into picture and affect the set up. I am not being stub-born , just being inquisitive.
I would love to get a detailed info on this by someone who knows it well. OLD FOX, are you listening? Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

^^ I think the confusion here is that maybe you two are referring to two different things.
1. The ride height will increase as much as the radius of the tyre has increased.
2. But the effect on gearing will depends on overall diameter which is radius x 2.
Does this solve anything?_________________________
