I agree... But now the bajaj ppl are not going to provide MRF zapper as standard fitting... It seems they r going to stick with IRC only... My 220 came with IRC, I have not yet taken allotment as I want the MRF zaps, and they will not exchange the tyres on this bike... I do not know why

Is there a cost difference between these two tyres ?

hmmm and the bike they have alotted to me is IRC tyres damm!

Do u mean it skids ??? anyone has actual experience of using IRC on a 220

IRC comes as standard fitting for the Ninja... SO it must be a effective/advanced tyre, dont u think so ?

Hmm, i guess they are moving to IRC tyres as they have trouble sourcing MRF tyres due to the strike in the MRF factory (not sure if the strike is still on). I guess you can speak to Bajaj Customer Care, but don't think it would help much.

The IRCs on the Ninja are completely different tyres, they are have a different thread design and size/profile as well than the IRCs on the 220.

yes they r different I know tht... point being that IRC may be a good or better tyre company than bajaj... n its Imported too... though at any point I would prefer zappers... seems as if I may have to take the IRC's only... any new 220 bike owner in poona who wants to swap tyres ?

You shouldn't worry excessively about getting IRC fitted on your bike.

When a company as large as Bajaj decides to put on a particular brand of tyres, they put it through regressive testing across all surfaces.

I think you are making the judgement before using them. On the contrary, you should be happy that your tyres are going to be different than what you practically see on every Indian bike. Performance wise, I feel that they will not be inferior to MRF

AFAIK IRC is better than MRF , even Ninja 250 is coming with those !!

hmmm... So, the same goes to say about EuroGrip tyres.

And, they use EuroGrip tyres for at least 10 times more number of bikes than they use IRC for. Would that make the EuroGrip better than IRC?

Well, guys, the IRC tyres are good and are upto international standards. Soft compound - grippy and lesser life as compared to the Indian made tyres that have only one thing as their focus - long life.

Though a welcome change off late is that MRF is coming out with some softer compound tyres and of course the soft compound R15's tyres. Even Ceat seems to be taking that route!

Yes, the IRC's cost more and mostly the costs get further inflated as some crazy people like xBhpians are ready to shell out a lot of money for them.

You are getting very creative with your fear. Check the P220 thread to see how happy people were to get IRC's as stock tyres.

Why Poona, tell me if you are serious about the swap. I sure have people who're ready to take your IRC's, get you brand new Zappers and pay the transportation cost to their place.

R 15 tyres

I have been using the oem tires but while cornering on dusty roads the grip looses out, and more over if i don't use the for more than a couple of days the air goes and ai have to pressure the tires once again!

!} can i fit a normal tube into the tubeless tire, how is it going to effect?

2} which is the best tyre for yamaha r-15

check ur alloy wheel... if it is bent even slightly .. air wont stay in between tyre and alloy so air leaks... also check vlave ....

I believe stock tyres are good for R15

If your tyre is running in lesser pressure than recommended its more prone to loose grip on dirt than any other tyre. Avoid testing its grip on dirt and rubble (though its pretty good in wet), as test it on high speeds might be dangerous.

Yes, you can fit a tube into the tube type tyre, though you would have to remove the original valve through which you fill in the air, which will be replaced by the one on the tube. The tube will add slight weight to the rear, and this is only an assumption that the handling my be stlightly effected.
The stock MRF tyres are the best for the R15. Apart from that, some guys here have also tried Michellines which are experienced to give equally better response.

Is TL available in M-Sirac ? i guess its tube tyre. Also its not available in this size which is same as my Gs 150 R.

But 4.00 18" will be good.

If TL in specific go for MRF Zapper-Y. One guy in Chennai with RTR 160 changed to this tyre he only suggested this tyre and i changed immediately.

michelin sirac is not available in 100/90. Its 120/80. Also its tube type. Raj.

Michelin Sirac is available in 100/90-18. It is a tubeless tyre, and sold as a front tyre but can be used as the rear. PM dcs, he is using it for more info!
