        I'm sure the Sirac would last 20K kms with the average user.

        I've used in more than normal conditions, eg: Ladakh ride and quite a few offroading rides.

        I can give you pictures if you like.

        There still some tread left in the centre line, but the braking performance has come down to dangerous levels and hence I would need to replace this tyre for fear of loosing grip.

        Plus the P220 is a heaving bike with massive amounts of torque, the tyre life on this bike generally lower than anything else in the market.

          I have a brand new M45 4x18 tyre with bill and manufacturing date, bought for my ZMA, but due to warranty reasons i couldnt use it . Bought it on 08 May 2010, 5 days back.

            I dont think Warranty voids (except warranty on stock tires) with tyre change! My bike has been in and out of HH SVC with M45's on front and rear.

              I believe you. Considering that you have taken it to extreme terrain, ( where it is extremely capable ) it is possible.

              On your second comment, I don't agree because the Sirac is originally designed for bikes upwards of 600cc. A 220 cc bike is not an overkill for the tyre in any sense. Ofcourse your analysis is correct in saying P220 has much more torque in comparison to other bikes in India.

              At the end of the day, the road condition, the riding style and many other factors go on to decide the tyre life. I am sure that you have taken sufficient advantage of the grip and comfort. All the best for your next purchase.

                How long does the Sirac last on the Karizma? I think its safe to say atleast about 25K kms.

                So I felt the combination of heavy weight and torque that is leading to a slightly lesser tyre life. As another 220+Sirac user I know had to look for a replacement in about 16K kms. Also the >600cc bikes would be using a different sized tyre and might have a slightly different compound to last longer. But the 120/90 Sirac is definitely falling in the soft - medium compound range and possibly the reason for lasting as much.

                My next purchase is a Sirac only, I'm hooked onto this tyre! :-)

                Thumbs Up to Michelin for providing us this tyre. (I just wish there was an compatible Front tyre to go with this!)

                • Michellin Sirac

                  Hi, I dont know how many of you would laugh on me and how many of you would disagree, but when I was hunting for a tubeless tyre for Karizma, I approached BK Tyres and they informed that they have a Michellin Sirac Tubeless with them (100/90-18). I was using the 128/80-18 Ceat Vertigo tubeless earlier and though the tyre was great in almost all the respect, it was just a tad too broad for the bike, had to remove the Chain Cover and also, it would brush against the swing arm in case of less air pressure.

                  So, I paid, 2500 for the Sirac tubeless, happy with the fact that I have a stock size and tubeless which is a rare find for Karizma.

                  people have been bonkers about Sirac and I was glad that I too have purchased a BOMB tyre. anyways, 6 days after fitting the tyre, i read on the side wall that it was meant for front. How true, bigger bikes have 100-90/18 as their front where in we are still getting this as stock in few bikes in stock.

                  Also, ever since the tyre change, I never had a chance to take it to some loose gravel area, no off roading, no nothing of this sort, in fact i dint take it beyond the city limits. have barely done some 3-4k on it and it has started wearing away.

                  My Take: Sirac aint value for money if city riding is what the motive is. Vertigo performed excellent in its 25K kilometer run, which had few trips to hills too and numerous hi-speed highway-riding.

                    Question. Since the 100/90 18 TL Sirac is originally meant for Front, for the rear fitment, you need to fit it in the opposite direction of rotation. There would be an arrow on the sidewall indicating the direction of rotation. For rear, you need to have fitted the tyre in opposite direction. Please check this out.

                      • @dsc and praful: If I remeber correctly Rocky used 120/80 sirac in his ZMA for more than 20K.. So certainly the fast wear out has got something to do with it being a front fitmnent..

                        My ceat vertigo 120/80-17 tubeless has got a very few threads left in the centre and the braking and wet performance has come down to dangerous levels too. The tyre is just <15K kms.. I have had all high speed rides and Leh done on this tyre, other wise it would have easily lasted much more..

                          Im sure as a 120/90 it certain won't be a 'rear' tyre for a 600cc bike. It might be a front tyre in that case.

                              my tyre still have good amount of thread left..
