  • Bajaj-KTM Street Bikes To Be Launched In India Soon!

    READ THIS ON BIKESPACE
A long wait is approaching to end as Bajaj-KTM is looking to launch new bike in India in upcoming year.

There have been many rumors regarding the collaborative product but recent official talk about the bikes is that the price-tag of the motorcycle will be over one lakh. The range of street bikes will feature engines of capacity 125cc and more. The launch is somehow definite in the cities of Europe by the end of this year and the welcome season of 2011 will be the time for India to host some launches from the team. Bikes will be sold through Bajaj Autos Pro-Biking showrooms.

It is news that the first launch from Bajaj-KTM will have a price tag over 1, 00,000. But not sure whether that bike will have an engine of 125cc or over 200cc. That shall continue remaining mystery for we people. Hope to see much powerful and superior bikes over those which we have we have already available in the market these days.

Another news from the team is that they are going to launch a series of imported bikes from KTM in Indian market in the upcoming years. This will definitely boost competition with Kawasaki which is looking to launch powered bikes in Indian market. The only similarity between Kawasaki and KTM will be the partner Bajaj Autos, India.

Words From Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Autos

“Whatever product will be out in the market will be at a very significant premium as against brands like the Pulsar. Else, what is the use of bringing such a product?”

the new r15 or r125 or r350(hahahaha joke)....whatever had to come out should be launched on the 25th...which is not too far away now....jus 2 days to go....

but there isn't any hype or any promotions by YAMAHA yet....

so, nw m a bit cnfused.....was al this just a speculation or dey are coming up abruptly with a surprise pakage...???
There seems to be some truth in it. Yamaha has stopped taking bookings for 2011 R15 (they did this twice earlier due to shortage)&are saying that the new model is coming in February. Lets wait&watch!

If you are interested in some serious offroading, contact Ken-he has a super offroader RX135 which he is selling for real cheap. It is a steal.

Hope they dont make a too peaky an engine to extract more top end.

IF it is priced high, and doesnt have good LET(read:torque) and also doesnt return reasonable fuel economy it would be a Disaster, IMO!!

What would be the point of buying a KTM if it would be tuned like a "desi" sports commuter? I would prefer it to be tuned to give us a taste of the "KTM Experience".

            Agreed.

But then we are talking about Indian road conditions/traffic and a sub-250cc 'performance' single cylinder bike. So in all probability they will have to alter the 'experience' a little bit so as to justify their offering here in India/Asia. No wonder they thought ahead off their proven 125cc to provide us a 200cc motorcycle which implies that they 'might' have not skimped the concern that i have raised.

Almost all KTM bikes are very torquey and this being a street bike I don't see it to be any different but mileage is one thing that I'm quite spectical about because if you look at any of the KTM world over the mileage is something where is doesn't score that well. For a 200cc a minimum on road mileage of 30 is acceptable not below that unless it gives devastating performance

and... electric bikes don't need to be registered with the RTO right?

as far as I can recall for electric bikes, the license depends on the power & not the top speed..... anything within 250W battery power doesn't need any license..... bigger than this needs a license.....

Nitro, awesome design of the Mojo..... looks much descent..... this product with proper pricing may have many customers..... Mojo looked different but needed something more..... & you have shown that.....

its not ignorance or mileage(which everyone cares)..... but why the product has to be 200cc single cylinder..... can we have something little bigger with descent price..... pricing will be an important factor.....

We are Indians! We are by birth entitled to single cylinder bikes!

                            • there is no need for an upgraded r15. the bike is awesome the way it is. i seriously think bigger tyres on the r15 could spoil its handling.

It definitely would if any poser tries to retrofit a bigger rear tyre on it.

But if it comes fitted from the maker, then it means that the manufacturer will test it rigorously and make necessary changes/tweaks to the chassis is required to go along with the new rubber.
