these guys are confusing us...first they say new R15 will release in january and now they say it'll not....i too got the same reply when i emailed them...

KTMs arent the fill it and shut it Jap bikes, they can be a bit of ***** to maintain at times. Anyone going for a KTM should keep this in mind! I would stay away from them in India specially when Bajaj is providing the servicing bit!

Really? KTM bikes have actually won the Toughest Rally in the world, the "Dakar Rally" for 10 straight years now.

Moreover KTM is the most respected name in off road bikes, the kind of bikes which gets thrashed in the severest way possible than the "fill it, shut it, forget it" type of bikes.

I say, let it arrive in India first and then decide whether it's worth being crucified.

are companies spreading the speculation themselves to create hype about their companies and not bringing anything....no tvs 220 yet nor R15 no pulsar 250 which has been speculated for soooooooooooooo long....

That mail is really disappointing

there is no need for an upgraded r15. the bike is awesome the way it is. i seriously think bigger tyres on the r15 could spoil its handling.

I value functionality more over aesthetics, although a wider tyre wud look better. As payeng said, if its yamaha factory fitted then be assured they must have tested it vigourously as you know yamaha doesn't compromise on functionality. Retrofitting wider tyre just for looks is out of question.

I am really confused now.
Either this 2011 r15 launch is just a speculation OR
Yamaha has got the marketing strategy wrong. Most bike vendors first create hype about the new bike and then launch it(Zma,Zmr,p220,etc) whereas here yamaha is doin the opposite.

For prospective r15 owners it makes sense to wait a bit(if the launch is confirmed) even if the upgrade is cosmetic only.

None of the companies mentioned above made any "official announcements".

The speculation are all due to forums/amateur blogs/speculative articles from publications. By the way, even this thread is called "Speculation thread".
