The 2011 Bike Launch speculation Thread

[xionite]

It is the only valid competition for Ninja 250R, in all terms.

except the paintjob.

i'll prolly end up buying the GT250R. and will paint it Lime Green.

[anush]

have you seen the GT650R in the flesh?

the GT250R looks almost exactly the same.
it's looks huge. it's prolly the biggest 250cc available today.

Hyosung will capitalize on that fact.

Benefits of launching a bike in poserland.
(not to say that the bike isn't a performer.
it'll prolly be one up in performance when compared to the CBR250R)

6-8 year old Comet 250's get a resale value of 1 to 1.2 lac here.

do you really think the GT250R would cost just 1.6 lac???

.

So what do you think the the price would be?

[xionite]

So what do you think the the price would be?

the GT650R is priced at exactly DOUBLE of what it sells for in the US.

so i'm guessing the GT250R will be 2.7 lac ish.

2.2 to 2.3 lac is what i'd consider reasonable tho.

this is just a calculated wild guess.

just saw a comparative review of GT250r and Ninja 250r by MCN.

Take away points are - The GT 250R has better performance but it is pretty badly made. The reviewer says that the bike woud start falling apart after a year of ownership.

you can see the review here:

yes. but that review is of a 2007 GT250R.

Hyosung has improved quite a lot since then.

Though build quality is still NOWHERE near the brilliant Ninja 250R.

in many forums this review is marked as very biased ..
according to reports .. MCN didn;t get the latest version of the GT from S&T as there wasn't any stocks at that moment.. infact they took a 2 year old used one .. which had lot of issues ..

Here is what new one has [2010 onwards].. lot of improments in quality .. aluminium frame [no rust issue now], powder coated paints [no orange peeling] and improved build quality

that's absolutely true..new GT250 has done quite an improvement over the years..

[Horror]

Kawasaki is the official sponsor of MCN(I'm not sure but have heard) hence the biased review. And yes the quality of parts has improved.

Thanks for pointing that out. Did not notice that it was a 2007 review.

Yeah.. the review does seems biased in favor of the ninja. And it is evident that GT250R has improved over the past few years. But the build quality differences are still pretty evident .. even in videos.

I am not saying that the GT250R isa bad bike... it is an amazing bike. But, as of today, the Ninja provides you more bang for your buck.

[MACH50]

the Ninja provides you more bang for your buck.

I can never agree to that.......when it comes to how the Ninja 250R is priced in India.

The GT250R might just be offering an exceptional VFM for Indian bikers and it all depends on how Garware handles the market and services.

@Xionite: Bro, please go for a Ninja 250R if you like that green shade so much...GT250R would look very nice in bright red/black combination, trust me to your naked eyes.
However if you have an appetite for lime green(I have an allergy for that color!!)......pls do not paint the GT250R,it will be vomiting good then

Guys,

3rd - Hyosung

that guy is dyslexic.

Thanks for pointing that out. Did not notice that it was a 2007 review.

i remember watching this video of the GT250R bout three years ago...
when i was planning on buying a used Comet here.

i didn't believe the MCN review back then too.

sellouts!

50 grand less on the price tag would have been perfect.

1. Guys, did the 200cc segment vanish with 250cc tearing the market wide open ?
I sincerely hope for a powerful 200cc bike to be launched soon
2. My friend who owns a P200 wants to buy the CBR 250R, should i ask him to go for ABS or non-ABS OR wait for a new release(2011) ?
