• IMHO, Collinite provides a great luster; but do not expect the luster to last when used on slush; the greatest advantage of the wax is evident only when the muck & dirt are wiped of easily without leaving any stains.

For eg, wax (or double wax) the vehicle & leave it in rain & let the water dry naturally; there should be stains of water appearing as patches; you'll be amazed to see that, with a simple one or two wipe with MF cloth the stains will disappear & the luster should appear. That's the kind of protection the wax provides.

polishing and waxing both are different. Polishing (if done correctly) will remove all minor scratches, swirl marks etc and bring out the desired shine. This process is better done by professionals as they have the required tools. Now in this there are some products that eat up a lil bit of the clear coat / paint finish to bring out the shine, but those are mostly industrial/commerical products. For home / DIY use there are many products from various brands like meguairs, collinite, turtle wax etc. that are clear coat safe and help removing minor scratch / swirl marks.

But polishing the vehicle too often is not recommended as they tend to reduce the finish at micron levels. Maybe once a year or every 6 months wont matter much.

Polishing should be done before waxing as it preps the surface and allows the wax to bond better to the surface. You can also try using a clay bar before polishing to remove any kind of impurities from the surface.
Ok,now I'm confused of what i do on my bike.
I use waxpol on my bike, (to a very min level), and keep buffing it to give a nice shine. Now whats that?? Polish or wax???

Simple...
Polish - To restore paint OR to give luster
Wax - To protect the surface of paint/metal/plastic from easy natural damages like bird poop, tar spots & easy removal of stain marks

Waxpol is wax; see what's written on waxpol; it should ideally read WAX or POLISH

+1 to that exactly this is what i experienced when it rained the next day. In the evening after office i just wiped off the surface with a MF cloth and the shine was back.

have you by any chance used the collinite 476?

rightly said aargee.

to add to it polishes have tiny abrasives that help in removing the minor swirl /scratch marks. But like i said in my earlier post they do this by eating up a lil bit of the paint/clearcoat (considering it as filing the paint to smoothen the surface) hence should not be used everytime you wash / wax your vehicle.

Products you can check for DIY (for removing minor scratches / swirls)
Collinite 840 (costs around Rs.950 for 473ml bottle)
Hi Friends , I am struggling to find Collinite 840 , Can anyone point me to any online store.

Has anyone tried Eagle one products.

The problem why collinite is not found so easily on online shops unlike meguairs / turtle wax is that they are more into developing a better product than marketing or promotions. They let their product do all the talking that speaks for itself.

Exactly this is what got me worried. As argee suggeted, will check out the WAXPOL bottle cover to see whether it's a Wax or Polish.

No; to my knowledge the outcome has to be buffed a lot more than C845 I believe; something more hard to work than C845.

Here's what the three below waxes does...
1. No.476s – most durable protection/weather defense. Most elbow grease required during application.
2. No. 915- 2nd most durable and slightly easier than the 476s to apply/remove. No. 915 lends our warmest shine to dark tones like navy and black due to its highest concentration of rare carnauba.
3. No. 845- easiest of the 3 to apply/remove with slightly less durability than the No. 915

• I found the following post while searching about Silicon polishes.

I even read somewhere else, apply silicone based polish like the waxpol below before final waxing as this helps in bringing out the gloss.

Source: http://www.autopia.org/forum/guide-d...-products.htmlpaint finish. Fish eye defects form where the paint piles up in a circle surrounding a point on the surface that contains a contaminant. The reason freshly sprayed paint does this is because contaminants like wax and silicone tend to create high surface tension and do not allow the paint to properly flow and self-level. Instead of laying down flat, paint moves away from these ingredients, forming a ring around them that has the visual appearance of what is historically described as a fish eye. In severe cases, where the painterpaint systems.

All professional body shops understand that the cars they repair have been maintained using products that contain waxes, oils and silicone. For this reason, all professional repair facilities perform the necessary preparation work required to insure that the paintwork is free of contaminates before they begin their work. In so doing, the dreaded "fish eyes" will not be a problem. The preparation work includes using special degreasers and silicone removers that effectively remove these substances from the surface or chemically alter their molecular structure in such a way to insure they pose no problems. If there is ever any question or doubt about the surface to which new paint is going to be applied, painters will use a paint additive to eliminate fish eyes. Interestingly enough, the paint additive that eliminates fish eyes is typically a special silicone additive.

SILICONES USED IN CAR CARE PRODUCTS
There are many kinds of silicones available for use in car care products. They vary in form and functionality. Car care chemists select the best performing silicones to create a desired finish for each kind of car surface.

Silicones are primarily used to modify or enhance a specific characteristic of another ingredient in a polish, wax or protectant formula. Silicones are not used for any characteristic they offer in and of themselves. There are some functions in a car care formula that only silicone can produce or no other ingredient can perform better.

One of the most commonly used features of silicone is its ability to lubricate (improve slip). The use of some types of silicone in a formula acts to make the product easier to apply and buff off. In this way, silicone lubrication helps reduce surface marring (scratches and swirl marks

Bringingbest.in should have and I sell these as well.

EagleOne Nano Wax is pretty good for everyday or regular waxing. However, EagleOne NeverDull Wadding is excellent to polish metal. I'm a completely satisfied customer of NeverDull.

Collinitte 845 is a liquid wax 476s and 915 MarQ D Elegance are Paste Waxes. They need more elbow grease. Try with Collinitte 845 and Im sure you will be satisfied too.

I have been using the following:

Motomax shampoo

Motomax cream polish

Motomax dashboard polish
(For black plastic parts like rear fenders, etc.)

These products are manufactured by Pidilite (same company to make Fevicol, Feviquick). My intention to mention this is that they are made by reputed manufacturers at a very affordable price.

I can vouch for their quality, and a ₹50 shampoo lasts me 5-6 times, Polish lasts me three times.

The protection offered at this cost by the cream polish is minimal, but you get amazing gloss. Also, it is easiest to apply cream polish than other hard waxes.

These are quite possibly the most VFM products in my opinion.

I mean with a ₹70 tiny can, I am able to polish the whole bike 3 times, with minimal use. (Read super kanjoos use or else you get polish deposited at some places)

There is also a ₹250 larger tin can available.
