although P200NS is potent enough for a 200CC, still do you seriously think a P200NS with a fairing will beat CBR250 on all fronts.??

      100 % -- what i was about to say

Actually there is a slight shortcoming in the P200NS stance for it to be supersports bike. I will explain in my design thread.
thats what i wanted to say-

in the current bajaj line up-
      • there is no fully faired bike
      • there is no 250 CC
      • there is no bike with sporty riding position.
ever since the KTM bug has bitten bajaj, everything is screaming "streetfighter", c'mon man there is market outside "streetfighter" category

and if the rumours are true that bajaj is developing a 350 CC bike, don't you think the gap between 200 CC and 350 CC will be too big and ideally there should be a bike in between.

and that 350 CC might take some time, till then... what ..??

imagine P250SS, with a sporty riding stance, full fairing, projector headlamps, superb handling, wonderful brakes, soft compound tyres, somewhat like 28 bhp, good torque, lighter than CBR250R and yes, looks little bit bigger than CBR with bigger tank, Fi, LC, beats CBR in 0-60,0-100 and 0-150 kmph and since this is a wishlist underseat exhaust. oh la-la baby am i day-dreaming-- in around 1.4 lakhs on-road.

and with it bajaj can reclaim the "FASTEST INDIAN" title...

      • bajaj is already working on a 375cc bike which is expected to come next year.As far as i know ( i read it somewhere in the past). KTM will introduce
a 350 cc bike and bajaj will settle to 375 cc with a price less than 2 lakh on road( price is just a guess)

But considering the fact that the 200NS is a good 20kg lighter than the CBR250R and assuming they can design a light enough fairing that doesn't add more than 4-5 kilos, it wouldn't be that bad? Actually, I would prefer this one to have only a 1/2 fairing(Or 2-3 kilos more). That would be a replacement for the P220 in the true sense. Given adequately tall gearing, its something capable of breaching 150kph true. Also, aren't there enough Fully faired 250s already?

Doing this would also buy them more time to work on/test the 250/350/375 or whatever it is they are working on now.

Concurring with you on lower capacity NSs, what if BAL use the exact same block from Duke 125 to make a 125NS (15Ps == same as restricted Duke 125) i.e. equivalent power to the current 150s and the other one being the 150NS (17.6-18 Ps) and meet the 150cc LC/180cc Air-Cooled competition head on, at least on the power front .

That way, there will also be clear distinction between the Discover (Carb Air cooled Downtube frame), Pulsar (Carb LC Pressed steel frame), and Duke(FI LC Trellis Frame) brands

          Discover 125 DTSi(11 Ps)
          Discover 125 ST(13 Ps)
Pulsar 125 NS(15 Ps) (Replacing the current 150)
Pulsar 150 NS(18 Ps) (Replacing the current 180)
          Pulsar 200 NS(23.5 Ps)
          Duke 200(25 Ps)
The new lineup could seriously be impenetrable!

But I guess it all depends on how the Discover 125ST does compared to lower priced Discovers 125 DTSi and 150 DTSi. If the market is open to this kind of downsizing with no loss in peak powers alongwith increased FE, the day Pulsar 125NS will see the light of day could be sooner than we think.
hahaha if a 125 ns comes then my dad wont buy me a 200ns....lolz.. but still if that thing can produce 15bhp and a CLAIMED mileage of 80kmpl by bajaj then who cares... just kidding...hehe.. About that full fairing part, bajaj is already launching the 350 next year...since its bajaj it may well be priced around 1.2 exshowroom... Then add another 15k for full fairing and price at 1.35 exshowroom which will be bang on cbr territory...infact cheaper... Sabar karo bhai.. full fairing is coming.... sabar ka fal meetha hota hai...

Actually there was one more reason I mentioned the Pulsar 125NS. As most of us know already, about 35% of all 2 wheeler made by BAL are for export. If these guys can make a Pulsar 125 using less tech than a Duke 125 at a lower price point, they have themselves a proper 125 which can easily be used for export to the EU as a mass market product. Effectively helping Pulsars to breach EU boundaries for the very 1st time.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.

This is really tooooo much to expect. Even a price tag of 1.7 ex showroom can keep people happy for a 375cc beast.

yes a very good point indeed...bajaj could very well produce a 125ns for the european markets with some added features...that would help bajaj bajaj to enter EU.. but in no way bajaj will launch that baby pulsar here...
@newrider...: just hoping bro... hehe...whatever it is these new pulsars are sure gona give sleepless nights to honda, yamaha and tvs... let honda and yamaha fight with each other.. expecting tvs to bring something radical...what about a 250cc lc apache with full fairing and 32bhp...? AFAIK the rtr250fx already have this engine... since this is now a speculation thread there is no problem in speculating i guess... the wait is killing me

Its not rumor. Rajiv Bajaj did confirm that they are working on next platform which is 250-350 cc. So we can expect anything from 250-350 cc pulsar. pasting the relevant portion of interview.

On the future for the Pulsar, which is now a decade-old:
We follow a platform strategy. One platform is 125-200cc, from which we make the Pulsars and the KTM bikes. The next platform is 250-350cc, and there will be both brands out of this also. If the Pulsar has to go any further, we need another larger platform, but that would not be right as the Pulsar is not a niche bike like a Harley or a Ducati. So, 350cc may be a good place to stop as of now. Ten years down the line, the Pulsar can go much further.

Full interview can be accessed from this link

so it means one platform from 125 to 200 CC and other for 250-350 CC.

this means P200 NS is the top of the line bike in its platform, other smaller capacity bikes will follow on same platform, may be a P150NS. and these are all naked streetfighter.

so definitely 250-350 CC platform is a faired one and the first one to launch will be the top of the line bike of that platform, with other smaller CC following it.

so does that mean a 300+ CC pulsar is very near.

                      will it be a single / in-line / V-twin ??

Bajaj bike in the EU market will not happen IMHO. It would cause cannibalization the KTM Duke 125 and there is no reason for Bajaj to eat into that when they themselves manufacture the Duke 125 as well. What could happen is Pulsar 125NS for markets like India, Brasil and Africa though I highly doubt it. The Discover 125ST is as far as it will go.

                        upto 150CC - Discover
More than 150CC - Pulsar from now on I feel.

Rajiv Bajaj said that they are looking to push Pulsar as a affordable performance brand and hence the lack of Bajaj branding on the new 200NS.
This will be the way forward IMO.

                        • The duke 200 and 200ns are the top end bikes in the current platform... The next platform i.e. 250-350cc will see the higher capacity pulsars... And its very unlikely that bajaj will comd with full fairing before ktm does... In 2014 the ktm 350cc full fairing bike based on moto3 will be launched and i expect the same to be carried forward to the 350cc pulsar.. The 200 faired version in all probality is a quarter fairing... And i think rajiv bajaj said in the interview that within 2015 pulsars will go upto 750cc... And all engines will be single cylinder...coz the dukes will not use the multicylinder layout since higer end dukes are single cylinder... And since bajaj will use same platform forget about twin cylinder... maybe 10 years down the lane we can see a 4cylinder pulsar1000 on motogp bagging the podium.... phew...! Tall order i guess

                          • I don't see a 250 pulsar coming up. The already over squared 200ns has little scope to get re bored. And that 30-20cc upgrade bug with bajaj is gone for good. I think it is quite clear that next'll be a 350ktm and a pulsar sharing the same config.
These are my observations, anyway this is a speculation thread!

@Princesirohi, completely agree with you, 250cc makes more sense if they are bringing in a bike with fairing! but then, they have already got a potent 200NS that just needs fairing to go head on with CBR250!

If so yes, Rajiv was saying of about another imporatant launch in this year.

Could it be new variant of boxer (BM100), as indiancarsbikes.in has some spy pics of the same in todays news(6/22).
