there is a high possibility of a full / semi - faired bike from BAL, so when they will launch a faired version FS/SS, they may as well increase the CC from 200 (of P200NS) to 220 or 250 and that bike will be pitted directly against the likes of CBR 250 R and will have a significant price advantage.

As far as rumors are concerned the full faired bike will have same 23.5 ps power but gearing will be changed to increase top speed. This will definitely decrease low and mid range response of bike which according to me is more important.

Very unlikely, why do you think that they will do that. They already have developed an all new bike, which is better than P220 in all aspects except for the top speed part. In all probability, they will try and fit a fairing on it with changes to gearing. Besides, it will not be a wise move if they are developing another new engine with a 20cc gap, when they have already developed a 200cc gem along with KTM, which is now used in Duke 200/P200NS.

                      i second you on that...
AFAIK the ns/200 engine is running on max capacity... The engine was originally developed as a 125cc engine with a maximum reboreing capacity upto 200cc... The ns/200 gets so hot and one of the main reason for it that it is running on almost full capacity... Maybe it can be bored further but that will compromise reliability.... The 350cc pulsar/duke will have a totally new engine altogether...maybe the basic design and platform could be same i.e. it may belong from the same engine family as the 200 but will be a larger engine by default... there is very very high possibility of a pulsar 180ns and 150ns coz the engine of the 200ns can be easily made to displace any capacity between 125cc and 200cc... And moreover test mules of new pulsar with rear drums and a different front disc with the duke's design has already been spotted.... So are we talking about liquid cooled 150ns and 180ns? Fingers crossed...

                      • there are several obvious reasons why the full faired version should be ideally a 250 CC ......

ofcourse whether or not bajaj does that is a different thing altogether.

+1 In fact I see 3 very big reasons .

But considering the fact that the 200NS is a good 20kg lighter than the CBR250R and assuming they can design a light enough fairing that doesn't add more than 4-5 kilos, it wouldn't be that bad? Actually, I would prefer this one to have only a 1/2 fairing(Or 2-3 kilos more). That would be a replacement for the P220 in the true sense. Given adequately tall gearing, its something capable of breaching 150kph true. Also, aren't there enough Fully faired 250s already?

Doing this would also buy them more time to work on/test the 250/350/375 or whatever it is they are working on now.

Concurring with you on lower capacity NSs, what if BAL use the exact same block from Duke 125 to make a 125NS (15Ps == same as restricted Duke 125) i.e. equivalent power to the current 150s and the other one being the 150NS (17.6-18 Ps) and meet the 150cc LC/180cc Air-Cooled competition head on, at least on the power front .

That way, there will also be clear distinction between the Discover (Carb + Air cooled + Downtube frame), Pulsar (Carb + LC + Pressed steel frame), and Duke(FI + LC + Trellis Frame) brands

                          Discover 125 DTSi(11 Ps)
                          Discover 125 ST(13 Ps)
Pulsar 125 NS(15 Ps) (Replacing the current 150)
Pulsar 150 NS(18 Ps) (Replacing the current 180)
                          Pulsar 200 NS(23.5 Ps)
                          Duke 200(25 Ps)
The new lineup could seriously be impenetrable!

But I guess it all depends on how the Discover 125ST does compared to lower priced Discovers 125 DTSi and 150 DTSi. If the market is open to this kind of downsizing with no loss in peak powers alongwith increased FE, the day Pulsar 125NS will see the light of day could be sooner than we think.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

                          • ^^ Was watching Rajiv Bajaj's interview yesterday in ET Now, he did mention about another big launch is going to be there this year! that too after mentioning that they have already launched P200NS, D125ST & Duke 200. My mind started racing with speculation, it could very well be P150NS!!

@Princesirohi, completely agree with you, 250cc makes more sense if they are bringing in a bike with fairing! but then, they have already got a potent 200NS that just needs fairing to go head on with CBR250!

There is no such thing as too many faired 250s. More is never enough!

Actually there is a slight shortcoming in the P200NS stance for it to be supersports bike. I will explain in my design thread.
