motomax liquid polish has abrasives...if ur bike is new and paint is relatively good just wash and use wax...if its old full of bad swirl marks and stuff...and if u want to restore use a rubbing compound and then wax but i wouldnt advise that...too much rubbing compound and u could screw ur paint up...
u can however use the polish once in a while and do with the wash and wax routine...Pulsar 200NS parts list

First...HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS for getting ur hands on the best mini faired bikeOriginally posted by siddharthsure View PostOh nooo..... Mine is brand new, just 2 weeks old.. I got this, now dunno what to do

now coming to detailing...be it fibre or metal..its painted and its bound to get swirl marks if its not cared for properly...
now it all depends on how much money u can spend on taking care of the bikes painted and not painted parts...
get a car shampoo...really any brand is fine..i got this motomax shampoo for 50 rupees..cheap effective and will last u for a very long time...check their website on how to use their products..they even have videos...
now if u are short on cash and want to build some muscles...u have waxpol auto polish/scooter polish....excellent shine and protection..but u need to work hard to buff(buffinf is really just rubbing with a soft cloth to remove the layer of wax dont get confused)
if u want quick shine there are many silicone polishes available u can use to make ur bike shining like it came from showroom just a few minutes ago...
if u have a lot of cash..there is turtle wax,formula1 wax, u even have collinite...tell us ur budget and members here can probably help u
i tried motomax cream polish...and found it to be just okay...doesnt last long and no water beading but gives a good shine(dunno if that was from the recent cleaning or the cream polish but the bike looked good but i'd say ZERO protection)Pulsar 200NS parts list

Thanks Man...I can spend 1000 bucks.. Dont know whether to get Formula 1 or collinite...Thinking of getting collinite 845 along with applicator for 1.2 K from Sanjay..But it may take a week or 2..Dunno how to protect till then.. Is formula 1 equally gud ?? if it is,ill go for it as its cheaper than collinite... Btw a layer of wax will prevent swirl marks until wax is there,Right???Originally posted by mayank.travadi View PostFirst...HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS for getting ur hands on the best mini faired bike

Go for collinite , For 1.2K its quite good and heard that it lasts almost a year ,in meanwhile U can opt for waxpol scooter polish (The Orange one) , I would also suggest u use a MF cloth for buffing and cleaning purposesOriginally posted by siddharthsure View PostThanks Man...I can spend 1000 bucks.. if u can afford get collinite...i've heard 476 is better than 645 but argee sir is better to explain...i dont use it much....yes a wax layer will prevent swirl marks on the clear coat of the bike paint...Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostThanks Man...I can spend 1000 bucks.. if u want the cheapest of the cheapest good home grown excellent product go for waxpol auto polish/scooter polish...a small tin wont cost even 100 and u can use it for a really very very long time..the down side is u gott buff harder and its relatively more difficult than other paste waxes....but not so hard and the results are good...mos VFM product...if u want to spend the least amount of money go buy a 50 rupee motomax car shampoo bottle which will last for around 20-25 washes even more i'd say and get the waxpol scooter polish...48 rupees for 50 gms....98 bucks and thats the best detailing products u have for that price...get ur bike a good wash and wax it with a soft cloth and then buff hard...the wax should last easily 1-2 months...if u rather want more of a quick shine(but less protection..more like negligible) get the waxpol silicone polish..or infact any silicone polish...u will get it within 150 rupees and its quick to apply and easy to buff....very smooth glossy feel on the bike and it shine very wellPulsar 200NS parts list

Ill search for waxpol tom...It will be helpful till i get collinite...And btw collinite 476 is a paste wax while 845 is liquid right?? I think ill go for liquid as its easy to apply and buff....And should application and buffing be done with MF cloth? And will silicon polish give same protection as wax gives?? No ; for long protection , wax is best . Any soft well laundered terrycloth(flannel) (for wax , dampen it) to apply and similar cotton cloth(old baniyan) to buff shall do .Originally posted by siddharthsure View Post....And should application and buffing be done with MF cloth? Yes; if easiness is your priority, then get a sealant; you don't even need to buffOriginally posted by siddharthsure View PostAnd btw collinite 476 is a paste wax while 845 is liquid right??
Remember, POLISH is to work on the paint, bring the lusture, correct, abbrasive etc etc; WAX is to PROTECT the paint surface. Both are for two different applications.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostAnd will silicon polish give same protection as wax gives?? 476 is almost like Vaseline cream at high tropical climate. You can just lift it off the tin and wipe it on painted surface. But at lower temperature its almost like Camelin color blocks that kids use. But, Collinites are hard on pocket. 845 on the other hand is easy to apply and easy to store/dispense. You will love it for its work after every wash. Dont underestimate Waxpol tin.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostThank you both of you.... . It will last you well beyond 2014 if you are using it on your bike only. For application, use old clothes like what Pinaki ji suggested. But, if you have a soft sponge in your house, you can use that as applicator also. Just cut 2 inch x 1 inch from the sponge block and wet it before applying. If protection is of priority, then nothing substitutes hard wax. Old Banian is by far the best/cheap option for buffing, available in plenty and you will not complain with the results.
