Use Motomax Headlight Restorer for HL/TL/Indicators and Motomax dashboard polish for consoles and black plastic parts. Wax on black plastics tend to stick to them and remain with a while line. Silicone tire sprays are not recommended for 2-wheelers as they are too slippery. But I tried it for tires and they come out really good.

You can also try Vista range of products which is economical yet reliable. I've been using both for about 4years now.

Both products should be available at your nearest Shell fuel stations.

so this brings up a question do all rubbing compounds result in damaging the clear coat? I was planning to getting the Motomax 2k rubbing compound as i already see a lot of light scratches near the tank and side cowls but now am thinking again.

Many have suggested to use the Meguairs Scratch X or Swirl X though.
I thought the very purpose of a rubbing compound was to remove the top layer of paint/clear. Thats how the scratches go and/or brighter paint below the oxidised top layer is exposed. It ALWAYS has to be followed up with a clear coat (paint fade/major or swirls over large area) OR hard setting polish. As it is abrasive, it will take off the clear to a degree proportional to rpm or pressure applied by the polishing wheel. The branded rubbing compound is not to be subject to criticism, its just doing precisely what its supposed to do.

What do you guys think of this product?

Formula 1 - Scratch Out Heavy Duty Paste

          Product features as on Snapdeal:
          • Exclusive micropolishers restore more heavily scratched and damaged paint surfaces. • Repairs other tough paint problems including bugs, tar, bird droppings and acid rain marks on the finish. • Restores paint color, making paint finishes look like new. • Won't scratch clear coat paint like conventional rubbing compounds. • Also clears yellowed, scratched and hazy head lamps.

My 4 yr old black ZMA has a faded look on one side of it's front fairing due to prolonged exposure to rain + sunlight. I was thinking of applying this first, and then get a Formula 1 carnauba wax and do the waxing. I'm new to this detailing thing and any kind of help would be welcome.

A short review of Formula 1 Scratch Out (Product link)

I have had lots of scratches on my bike, thanks to Cramster tank bag and saddle bag Below are the pics with before and after using the above Formula 1 rubbing compound..

            Before

            After

            Before

            After

            Before

            After

I used to use Waxpol earlier which would perform decently but needed lot of effort to remove scratches. Formula 1 is relatively easier & cleans out scratches very well unless it is very deep. I didnt expect this to perform so well! But yes, it is more expensive than waxpol.

Hope this helps anyone worried about scratches on their precious steeds

Avoid using salt/hard water. If no other choice, then run a stream of RO/mineral water or even still you can dab a MF towel with mineral water and wipe the surface followed by chamois leather cloth before allowing it to dry in the shade or sun. Now that you already have it, dab cotton in just vinegar or with a combo of baking soda on such water stains and it will be gone.

First try with vinegar alone dabbed in cotton. Wipe off with MF towel and check. Still if you find marks, mix the baking soda and vinegar and use immediately. Once gone polish and then followed by wax.

                        Whoa! Thanks a lot man.

Read somewhere that Meguiar's Ultimate Polish is also good. So I'm confused. My ride does not have any scratches, just that the paint is faded.

If your paint is faded, you need to do the following in the same sequence.

                          Washing
                          Claying
                          Polishing
                          Paint protectant
                          If need more shine waxing

I have used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and it does work very well. It's also good on scratches that aren't too deep. However, If used aggressively, it removes clear coat. Have no idea about Formula 1 wax though.

I think it's a missing case of punctuation. What he really meant to say was, "If you need more shine, waxing"

Wow, so if I need more shine, more waxing, then more shine, more waxing. Wow, I didn't know that. So how do I get mirror like finish? Wax it like 5-6 times then?
