PPF & Detailing are two different methods for maintaining the high gloss look of the vehicle. If the vehicle is in wraps & still looses shine, then it's time to check the paint quality of the vehicle or you're in the most polluted place.

Totally agree sir. But as you might be knowing, vinyl quality of D390 are on downside and I find it a tad less glossy. Since I found PPF expensive, wanted to know should there be any substitute similar to it.

• Maintaining your Royal Enfield !!

Hi Guys,

I used some of the polishes avalaible in market and would like to list out 3 best polishes for your Car/Bike.

I used Formula 1, Turtle Wax, Motomax (pidilite) and used liquid polish Scratch Guard for removing minute scratches from paint surface,

I also used Holtz polish for Chrome and Aluminium.

Here are the results By Motomax Polish.

Here are the results by Turtle Wax, I am not much impressed by Turtle Wax as it didn't hide the scratches..

I use this microfibre cloth/glove for cleaning and polishing of bike, and it is very good for picking up dust and polishing.

I custom tailored a bike cover as most of the bike covers are not for the size of RE.

Persnally i like Formula 1 the best..

1st - Formula 1 and Scratch Out
2nd - Motomax
3rd - Turtle Wax

Price List : -

Formula 1 - 250/-
Motomax - 60gm pack for 60/-
Turtle Wax - 250/-
Holtz Chrome and Aluminium Polish - 180/-
Microfibre Cleaning Glove - 80/-
Bike Cover - 650/-

Depending upon members interest, we can place a group order that MAY or MAY NOT attract some good discount rather than approaching as individual. Right now I've about 3 people in the group & the purchase time frame will be around 2nd week of Feb 2014.

I tried Turtle Wax Metal Polish today. I bought it online from www.autofresh.in. They took their own time to deliver but I did not bother since it was COD.

Tried it on the indicator. Before and after pics attached. I think it does a fair job.

Tagging dmkmonk hoping it would be useful for his RX restoration.

I had this query in the back of my mind for some time now.
Once we wash the bike its clean and shiny. However one or two days down the line, dust starts to accumulate on our vehicles.
Here is the question: if we wipe that dust every day using a rag will that inturn cause more and more scratches to the paint surface on a regular basis too. Solution is to not wipe it at all and directly wash down the dust with water and detergent during weekends but by the time weeked comes dust becomes very visible on the scooter ( I have a honda aviator, so lots of vast body panels thus accumulated dust becomes even more visible). God forbid if we don't get time that weekend or the next one, its a blasphemy.
What should be ideally done according to you guys?

Dust will accumulate specially on fibre parts. To avoid swirl marks while cleaning use a micro fibre cloth & the trick is to wipe the particular area at one stroke in one direction. Don't follow rubbing or reciprocating motion while cleaning. If you wipe your scooter every alternate day or every morning (I keep the engine for warm up do a quick wipe) you scooter will remain cleaner & shiner for longer so you can extend your washing interval to 10 or 15 days & can feel good about the water you saved :-)

Hey guys,
Any polish that is safe on matte finishes? (for my Dio). I know that normal polishes contains Wax which destroys the flat finish on matte black
A polish that's available in India?
Please help :what:
Thank you

Thanks for the reply. Do you wash the microfiber cloth often?
Can anyone point me to a store which sells this cloth in Mumbai, preferably around Mulund.
