Helmet Mount/Tank Mount camera - Details

        Hello fellow's

Sorry for this late post , just a month ago i have posted a word about my new Helmet cam in some thread , since then i have got lot of PM regarding details of this .. but due to time shortage i was not able to post a thread on this ... so here it goes now

Model : Mini DV HD M80

This particular video recorder is also called as sport camera [many will mistakenly call it as spy camera due to its small size which is wrong]

The beauty of this camera is it has very small size and can be fixed to any surface including Helmet/tank/side faring/mudgurad/visor .. .etc..etc..

        Technical specifications :

        • VGA 720x480 dpi video
        • Sound activated video (Activates above 60 DB)
        • microSD card capable up to 8 GB in size
        • 2 hours battery life using the lithium-ion battery.
        • AVI file
        • 40 minutes per GB recording time (6 hours with 8 GB microSD).
        • Can be used as a computer webcam.
        • Multi-color LED to show functions.
        • 20-25 frames per second recording (manual claims 30 FPS)
        • mini-USB connector (USB 2.0)
        • A very brilliant video

There are many models within this recorder .. and some of them fake models .. but will work the same.

        Accessories:

u will get quite a bit of accessories with this , a usb cable , and couple of attachements as shown in pic and some extra attachments for tank like magnetic holders and like that , there will be some manual along with CD [useless]

        Working :

it has a power button press it to turn ON , once on 2 lights will be blinking on top and after some time one light will be off .. .now to record just press another button on top of the recorder .. and a red light will start blinking indicating the recording .. to stop press it again and the red light will disappear.

it has ability to save automatically on battery charge is over or memory card is full ,

it required micro SD card [same one which ur mobile phone has] .. making it usable so that when ever u need just swap ur mobile mem card with this.

        quality:

pretty decent quality with no blurr and sharpness is good.

        cons:

as there is no disply its difficult to check the recorded video instantly , and as its very small and due to its size .. one should be careful to align it properly before recording.
the video will be recorded in raw avi format .. and due to this .. a 15-20min video recording will yield 1GB avi file .. later u need to convert with video convert to reduce size [although no prob in playing video in high end mobile and PC]

        where to get :

u can order this from e-bay it will cost $10-$20 without shipping charge.
and alternatively u can search in local markets ... like SP road in B'lore or some China bazar or something like that .. surely they may have it,
i got it for 1500/- without mem card, after searching a bit in B'lore.

I see this (not same model, but same look ditto) .. as 6000+ on ebay.
There is another same looking one for 1600 but it doesnt say voice activation or anything.

Could you please point me to where I can get one.

Also, anyone else had DIY'd a mount (without drilling) for bike and used a normal camera?

I have a Sony Cybershot w570 something.. I wont mind using it on bike.

Hey bro, I'm also thinking of getting one of these from ebay.in as they're pretty cheap. I see they provide some sort of mounting brackets. Are they really useful? Can the bracket be used to mount the camera on the tank securely(with the help of some tape maybe)?

                          • these days motovlogging seems a big trend over youtube. most of these riders use GoPro Hero 2/3 or Drfit HD cameras. Was looking up for such cameras over ebay.in, each one was priced around 20-25k. comparing their functinality to a DSLR/Semi DSLR, that seems reasonable but most people would not want to spend that much only for recording occassional rides and outings

As i couldn't find the appropriate post, I thought of starting a new one.

I own a FZS and i was looking for Camera mounts that can be attached onto the handle bars.
I know there are mounts available on the "WWW", but they do put a hole in my pocket.
I also have viewed a couple of you tube videos to make/buy a cheap camera mount, but they appear to be really flimsy.

                              Pls. suggest

                              CHEERZ..!!
