It is better to go for higher viscosity oil with same quantity as recoended.

Increasing the quantity of oil has other side effects as well.

thanks for guide btw, i too own p200ns and the front setup is stiff and i wanted the front to be little spongy like the other pulsars. so if lesser weight oil like the motul factory 5w it will increase the suspension travel more or not??? cause i read on web the lesser weight oil the more soft suspension.

yes, a lesser wt oil will make the suspension soft.

but overall suspension travel is not affected. only effective suspension travel is affected (under a certain load condition)

        Re: Motorcycle Fork Oils

Finally changed oil seals and fork oil for 3rd time in my ns !
This time i was going for 15w oil instead of stock 10w oil ..
Did a alot of search but could only get 10w oils ..
So instead of stock oil i used fork oil from ktm
There nothing written on it ! No specs a
        No nothing !
But its slightly thicker than stock one !
Now bike feels planted on curves and doesnt bounce around !
Ride quality isnt drastically affected ...
I would recommend this oil if anyone wants slightly stiffer suspension ..

          Re: Motorcycle Fork Oils

The KTM branded fork oil is provided by endurance and is of grade 5W.
Changing the grade has a lot more effects than we think(Stiffening & Softening), and the results aren't as expected.
Its a lot more complex, than it seems, for increasing or decreasing, the stiffness, its recommended to alter the springs, or change the spring rate and the fork oil level/quantity within 10-15% of stock range. These are the conclusion i have come to after experimenting on my bikes.
The changes with change in spring rate are somewhat linear when compared to Fork oil, which causes non linear change.
Change of viscosity makes the whole thing go haywire, better stick to the stock recommended grade and experiment a bit springs and oil level.
Also i think the KTM fork oil is the only easily available and widely available 5w oil.

Hi, i am not sure if this the right thread to ask my query but , Where can one of these fork oils in Pune
            1. Gulf fork oil
            2. Veedol Fork oil ( preferred)
            3. Endurance Fork oil

I live in Viman nagar area, hence nearby locations are needed for buying . I dont want to get 20W castrol as it makes front end stiffer which is worse for me.

            Thank You

                      Re: Motorcycle Fork Oils

Can anybody tell me KARIZMA ZMA-R fork oil grade and capacity ?

Recently i changed from Hero ASS...Initially they had put 160ml ..but the suspension had become too hard ...negligible damping .. so after pushing ASS people they changed it to 150ml. . i dont know which grade they have used not even the make.
Now with 150 ml damping is happening but not as original.. its still on the stiffer side .

After changing to new oil does the forks needs a couple of weeks time to get the smoothness back ?

What is the fork oil capacity for Pulsar RS200?
Please suggest a good fork oil for RS200. Currently it is good at absorbing very small potholes, or uneven roads but when i go on a medium size pothole at speeds 40+KMPH it hurts my back and at speed breakers at speeds of 35+KMPH the bike jumps sometimes.

I too own RS200, am not worried about the comfort because RS200 is not for comfort riding, its a sport bike.
Only comfort you get is the little upright riding position compared to a R15 or RC200.

On our RS200, the suspension is pretty stiff but fornt is not that stiff, no dampening is there because of heavy front end,
at higher speeds pot holes makes easy bottoming out.
I want to stop this bottoming out issue and nose dive, am planning for Motul 20w fork oil,
or just add same bajaj 15ml more fork oil, which will change the fork movement post half the travel.
