  • [xBhp Universal Thread]: Haroon's scale model display (many bikes/pics)

My Scale model Collection and Display Stand
Atlast, I am glad to make my presentation (if I can call it that way). My scale model display has been in the making for a while now, but work/family commitments just took precedence and this was in the back-burner.

Theme-1: Being a BMW affectionado, my theme had to have a dedicated place for BMW. But since I had some more of the European beauties- Triumphs & Ducatis, I decided a European bike showroom from my imagination would be good.

Theme-3: Lastly, there was an assortment of many sport bikes, nakeds, sport-tourers & tourers, so then I decided the Deals Gap would be a good background (this actual place in US is a sports bikers paradise with 318 curves in 11 miles- called the dragon).
Theme-4: The extreme bottom section is basically bike mag covers color-copied, laminated & stuck. OK, these are some old mags since I took them from my old display stand made in 2003.

Hope you enjoy the whole thing. Feedback for any improvements also welcome.

The drawing board to start with. All material, tools etc ready for action.

    The electrical connections..

This is phenomenal Haroon. Thanks a ton for sharing all the information and ofcourse the plethora of pictures. You have perhaps the largest number of collection here in xBhp! Absolutely mind-bogglingly exotic machines there.. I am absolutely sure you have put that 'bug' of collecting these models in many a souls out here with these wonderful pictures of yours! Truly amazing work and you sure are a collector.

This DID require a separate thread and here it is!

    TOPIC APPROVED!!

              Where's Bandhav!?

@Haroon: How much time did it actually take you to gather all these beauties? 1 year? 2 years?? I cannot help but wonder!

                Thanks Mindgrinder, Anvancy & Praveen.
Yeah Praveen, you said it- dusting it is a real pain.

Yeah Aryan. Me too waiting for Bandhav. I think I started collecting sometime in the year 2001. BTW, the jet bike of OCC is the costliest- Price US$ 35 + US$ 30 for 2-way taxi to the Discovery Channel store in Orlando. I was lucky to see the actual bike in 2003 at the Biketober Fest in Daytona Beach.

Haroon, mate, for me the scale model collection is like a stupid time pass some guys do (like how I had my own collections that others thought were very stupid!)... but, after looking at your showcase I cannot help but appreciate your effort and the outcome. The themes are well thought off and well executed. The lighting too gave some natural effect.

I believe this would be a very good scene to look at directly but for photos many of your photos had a disturbing flash... also because of the lighting effect we got the darker sides of the bikes to see (I understand you cannot shoot from every side there)...

would you please show us neat pictures of your show case...? may be in natural light without lighting effects and flash.

                          Thanks Kriss, Ankitmohan & Sreekeerti.

Yeah HydBiker- Thats why I mentioned about my wife also thinking of it as some child stuff initially. Your comment on the photos was exactly in my mind as the real thing looks a lot more impressive. Actually, my camera is a first generation digital camera and non-flash photos just get blurred. Been wanting to buy a new SLR, but it just got postponed. Besides, natural light in my living room is almost non-existant and pushing the stand to the next room means some of the bikes tipping over, unless I physically remove all of them and then push the stand and put the bikes back and vice-versa. But I may try and do it sometime in the future to take some photos.
