As for superbike thefts, I was referring to the West. I don't think even if someone somehow is actually able to open the lock and stuff, they would really want to steal such an exclusive piece of machinery. It would be a REAL heachache to get rid of it (selling it off).

So if we can put such system in our bikes, local thieves can't start our bike by their "khat-khut" method... Im sure they will be damn expensive !!

Manufacturers in India fail to provide as basic a security system as a solid locking mechanism in their 'probikes' (pun NOT intended)!!

I believe, it's high time really they looked into this matter. 250cc, 40BHP machines with a 0-100km/hr. time that would put to shame some cars are always welcome. But, what good would those be if all they need to be taken away is a firm push at the handlebar!

the only option we have is of engine immobilizers the sbk, keys have special computerized design with holes and stuff, when its fitted the circuit is completed, but only thing is duplicate keys could be made, what if you lose the keys of SBK etc.

u mean duplicate keys with such computerized system can be made ? Man since when local thieves in Indian slums became so much advanced ? If we can really put such system on our bike (right now forget how they cost) and we can star our bike with only our keys !!! Isn't this amazing... we are almost near to solve the security issue?

That is bike can only be started with 'his' keys. If u insert any other key the circuit cannot complete and hence bike cannot start. I don't have knowledge about such systems. Will anyone shed some light...?
The key has a chip embedded inside it. The key when inserted, disables the engine immobilizer. If another key is used and there is no chip/correct chip inserted, the immobilizer does the needful.

If one loses the key, there can be a duplicate key purchased (ones with chip embedded). The owner is also given a master key, which aids in programming the new blank duplicate key. Once it is programmed, the duplicate key can be used again.

Of course, not all superbikes have this feature. Most US-bound superbikes do not have engine immobilizers as a standard feature. Which is why it is very easy to steal bikes there. Bikes headed to most (including India ) of the other regions (if not all) have this engine immobilizer fitted

And I've never seen a superbike key with holes

I seriously doubt they can be fitted on our desi bikes! It is not just about a chip in the key; it would be much more complicated than that, my friend.

A simple and cheap solution is to buy a Godrej Ultra padlock. Whenever you get down, just use that on your front/ rear wheel (guys who have open bike chain can use it on the chains directly).
Even if the guy is able to break your handle lock, this will prevent him from riding away. if you put the lock on the wheel, it becomes difficult to push it also.
When not in use, you can easily keep it on the saree guard!

My colleague in office uses this method. His P180 and apache 150 have not been stolen ever, though the lock on his P180 was once opened...

I will be trying this on my hunk soon.

Ride Safe...you owe it to the person who will be affected if you didn't

That's a good idea. Some Padlocks seem good:

                              Ultra Magnum

                              Ultra Sherlock 60mm

But where do we put it on the disc?

^^ I guess those locks would look a bit too much on bikes. The fork lock is a good option and does the same job.
