HiOriginally posted by freesoul_sj View PostHello guys.
Please tell me which section in our law states that we should have number printed only on a number plate on the front side of the bike.
i mean mine is r15 and i have pasted the number on the mud guard..
i want to know about the section and hope one of you have enough knowledge about it.
I dont know the particular section but it is stated in CMVR (Central Motor Vehicle Rules), CMVR is taken into account for registration and certification of vehicle. Its Rule no 50 and i shall paste the content here:
50. Form and Manner of Display of Registration Marks on the Motor VehiclesIND" in blue colour on the extreme left centre of
the plate. The letter should be one fourth of the size of letters mentioned in
Rule 51 and should be buried into the foil or applied by hot stamping and should
be integral part of the plate;
(iii) each plate shall be protected against counterfeiting by applying chromium-based
hologram, applied by hot stamping. Stickers and adhesive labels are not
permitted. The plate shall bear a permanent consecutive identification number of
minimum seven digits, to be laser branded into the reflective sheeting and hot
stamping film shall bear a verification inscription;
(iv) apart from the registration marks on the front and rear, the third registration mark
in the form of self destructive type, chromium based hologram sticker shall be
affixed on the left-hand top side of the windshield of the vehicle. The registration
details such as registration number, registering authority, etc., shall be printed on
the sticker. The third registration mark shall be issued by the registering
authorities/approved dealers of the licence plates manufacturer along with
authorities/approved marks, and thereafter if such sticker is destroyed it shall be
issued by the licence plate manufacturer or his dealer;
(v) the plate shall be fastened with non-removable/non-reusable snap lock fitting
system on rear of the vehicle at the premises of the registering authority(2) In the case of motorcycles the registration mark in the front shall be displayed parallel to
the handle bar on any part of the vehicle including mudguard facing the front instead of,
on a plate in line with the axis of the vehicle;

<bumping on an inactive thread>
For Tamilnadu xBhpians:
Some while ago, read in newspapers that all vehicles should have fixed HSRP Number plates before 31st March,2011.
Has fixing of this no. plate started in Metro cities? Has govt. appointed dealers for the same?

I'm using a sticker based plate.
Though, the law is there(I came to know after reading this thread) regarding the IND plates. , the police here doesn't seem to bother. One time, my friend was fined for using a digital-graphical sticker in his plate. Only thing they asked for was a projection plate(the no.'s are projected outwards, like in the IND plate.) Many kerala xBhpian's would know this, the police here; if they stop you the'll not leave without getting atleast 100Rs.
IND plate Costs around 800Rs..

what exactly does it mean when they say that the number plate is "Anti theft smart number plate"?
Does it employ some kind of system to track the number plate in case of theft? (in that case it is more or less useless)
And what does the company (UTSAV) mean with the statement?"UTSAV brings international quality counterfeit proof number plates made with German technology as per ISO standards"

Did anyone notice that the bill that is sent with the number plates says "Sample"?
Why is this so? If they are selling their product so widely and demand is increasing (so many vehicles sport these plates) why dont they document their sales properly?
Me thinks its a way of quoting lesser tax (products billed as samples) which is not an ethical business model.
No doubt the plates are fantastic but then this is just a thought.
Anyone agrees with me?
