Woodlands are pretty lame biking shoes... too bulky, too slippery.. and while they 'Look' like a cliched biker boots THEY ARE NOT!
To the one with the query.
Cheapest Option. Buy an Over shoe or a shift sock.
(Over shoe is like a jacket that you can wear over the shoe.
Shift sock is like a socks for the toe shifter which will save your shoes)
There is NO replacement for good riding boots. Riding boots provide you with heel and ankle protection like your gloves do for your knuckles.
Wear any sport shoe that can offer you these features.
I commute to office wearing riding boots and change them to formal shoes. Back when I didnt know about riding shoes, I did the same with Ankle guarding boots.Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Well, I have been using this particular model for a few years now ( replaced old shoes with the exact same model(different colour) even though I was bored with the design). These are sturdy, cover the ankle well, and while they are not waterproof, they dry fast if they happen to get wet. To top it they are comfy when you have to walk long distances. I have had more than my share of falls in the past few years but never has this thing failed me *yet*. On one occasion, the bike had fallen to the left side with the exhaust crushing my foot trapping me under the bike. But the *bulkiness* of the shoe was the thing that rescued me that day with the *heavy* sole taking all the impact and load keeping my foot away from harm's way.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostWoodlands are pretty lame biking shoes... too bulky, too slippery.. and while they 'Look' like a cliched biker boots THEY ARE NOT!

They might be rubbish on wet floor, but then thats the only drawback of these shoes. Totally recommend this particular model over any other shoe from Woodland. None of the others cover ankles properly.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

I have the same model too. And some of my early day pictures are with the same shoes.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostWell, I have been using this particular model for a few years now ( replaced old shoes with the exact same model(different colour) even though I was bored with the design). Does us having them add to thier credibilty? - I dont think so!
They cover your ankle? Seriously? Compare them with the Picus or evet the coot!
The bulk is not a boon but a bane! You were perhaps lucky in your case but dead weight in your shoe can twist your legs pretty bad. Pretty much why motorcycling boots arent ever designed with bulky heels!!!
The bulk also creates a problem in guaging feedback so accidental shifts can happen on them, more so if the sole is slippery which in woodlands case it is!
A MUCH better alternative to it is the Orazo Picus!

Of course, US having them doesn't make them any more credible. But thats the one which has the highest ankle height in all of Woodland's range. My point was, if you absolutely HAVE to buy Woodlands, buy that one. (As they say, Andho me Kaana Raja
).
Well in that case I need some feedback. Are they comfortable to walk in (if you happen to have a breakdown and HAVE to walk)? And is there a physical store where I can buy them from (in Pune / Mumbai)? Because I need to try out my shoes before I buy them.. its due to a special condition I have.
I have tried the specialized riding boots, just didn't find them comfortable enough
.

Just like your jacket, helmet, knee guards the riding shoes need some amount of getting used to walk comfortably... Ive pretty much walked with even a proper riding shoe on me, but I wouldnt recommend them for walking :P
Havent seen an Orazo store myself, but know some people who have got them and swear by them...The last one being Gaurav Chaturvedi who has now exiled from xBhp..
You will get a lot of okayish safety shoes from even the likes of Bata and liberty which you can try and buy. But NOTHING beats a proper riding shoe!
You get army boots too which provide some amount of ankle and heal protection!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Well I have been using Wurth Safety shoe as it mandatory for my company. It is quite comfortable and comes with a toe protector. Price around Rs. 950 I think so. Good for all weather and the drawback is it is slightly heavy. Other times I mostly use Paragon sandals. Very soft and nice to wear.

Suggest me any shoe which provides max protection while riding, but still can be used for everyday purposes ie,walking. It does n't need to be formal. No preference to any brand, company.Shoes with good heels are prefered."Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

Guys ,
I bought this particluar piece from SafetyShoeBazaar ,
Product:Ecotix High Pro
Features:
Pros:- Economical
- Has steel Toe
- High Ankle
- Water Resistant ( Wore it in rain yesterday , withstand medium rain)
- Good Quality Leather ( Haven't faced sweating issues).
- Says Heat Resistant( didn't get to test it).
- Proven Quality( My own Experience, see below )
Cons:- A little Heavy ( Safety Boot
) - Ankle part rubs a little.
- Walking around with this all the time , not so easy ( But I do that , wears it to office daily).
Experience:
Bought it from above mentioned site , for 1000 Rs.
Did take some time to get it delivered ( around a week), got it neatly packed.
Took a size above, so its a bit loose . But hey I can live with that.
It can withstand some good amount of wreckage.
First Day I wore it office, while coming back at night near to Bellandur Bangalore, while in a traffic block a 'swift' guy tried to take his car over my foot from behind.
It started sliding over my foot ,because of the shoe I got enough time to pull it back ,( it has steel toes). I had to knock on his car's bonet for the moron to stop.
I didn't make a scene though as it would have worsened the traffic and the guy was with Family. The car was not even registered!.
Still people think of pushing a 4 wheeler through each and every gap they find. My Pulsar 200Ns being new as well. I was waiting in the traffic block.
He was looking at me angrily for tapping on his car.
The Crux of the story 'Shoe is 4 wheeler proof in slow moving traffic'.
Couple of Days Later , in another block a pulsar guy took his bike over my foot. Before my adrenalin reach its peak that guy apologized.
I showed the tyre marking on my shoe, and waved my hand to say things are OK and came to office.
"Shoe can withstand Bikes as well'.
In short , this shoe is Bang for the BUCK . I am way more than satisfied for the safety it had given to my foot.
For 1000Rs , you can't get a better protection for your foot ( atleast Online
).
