  • Sorry. Thought Its Mineral.
I say Power-1 is not good compared to other semi synthetic oils.

      Tried Castrol Activ X-tra 20w-50 on my friend's P-220-F.
Dont know why castrol oils loose smoothness so soon.
Trust me, Performance was not fair.
The engine lost smoothness only in 500-600 kms.
We changed it in 1200 kms.

I used it for the first time in my P220 it was the Crapstrol Activ 20w50. The engine was smooth, to be honest, but just for some 55 to 100 KMS and after that it's totally a different experience. Drained the oil with just 300 KMS of usage.

I wouldn't recommend Castrol Activ Xtra 20w50 for starters.

        Cheers!

            Done almost 1300kms with Delvac 1400 15W40.
Changes observed with reference previous oil -Shell AX7.
Smooth gear shifts have become even more smoother.
            No difference in pickup/power.
No increase/decrease in engine noise. Sounds the same irrespective of temperature, earlier it used to sound a little bit harsh after a spirited ride.
Engine revs freely same as it does with a 10W40/10W30.
            No change in FE.
Dip stick now looks as if I have replaced it with a new one,no noticeable change in oil color though.

I can conclude that the "only" easily noticeable change is butter smooth gear shifts.

I would rate this oil when compared to the other oils I have used in the past as :
            Delvac 1400 > Shell AX7 10W40 > Motul 3000 4T 20W40 > IOCL Servo >Hero Honda genuine oil(tide) = Elf gold > Castrol Activ 20w40.

Nice review.. One big benefit of this oil (apart from smoothness) would be its ability to hold good for more than 3000 kms, which makes it the best choice in mineral oils.

This Delvac oil you used, is it Mobil Delvac or just Delvac? I've seen Mobil Delvac 4-wheeler oil, so just wondering...

Delvac is the so called brand of Mobil I don't think anyone other than Mobil have products under such name

                    • A 100 cc engine puts less strain on the engine oil than a 150 ~ 200 cc engine, hence engine oil of most makes will survive without much problem....

The Delvac is Equal to the Shell Rimula R3x in most parameters... the ZDDP in Delvac is unknown...The Shell Rimula R4 with 1.2% of Sulphated ash , and higher TBN and Calcium based dispersant/acid protection additives is Superior to BOTH.

ZDDP content in Delvac 1400 is 1-2.5% almost same as R3X.
Engines like splendor(pre-2010 ),karizma and the like should benefit from this due to absence of roller rocker arms in these engines.
Cam and rocker life should increase. I think these diesel engine oils could also be used as an excellent engine protector when the bike is stored for long periods of time.

                        • But Psr'jee , my experience is that 100cc engines lead a more stressful life having to work hard to move the same loads at similar speeds , and they work hotter too . For example , to maintain 60-70kmph over a 10 km run constantly with a 60kg rider & pillion( say 120kg payload ), a 150cc+ engine would be quite relaxed while the 100cc is working near it's limits and gets very hot too . Nahi ?
Under such conditions oil is the vital difference between your bike and a broken down one, one summer noon .

I was referring to the Pressure stress in the Combustion chamber, gears, clutch and other moving parts.....A 100cc may be stressed due to lack of power, and hence unable to pull a given load at high speeds, whereas a higher cc engine with larger CC capacity is Thermally more challenging , due to it's capacity to produce higher power, and produce hot spots instantaneously.....why do we say a F1 engine throws more challenges ,and stress than a normal street use engine ?..as cc and performance increases, the Liquids used are subjected to greater stress..
