In Bangalore, it s easy to find cos 3M has a factory in BLR.

That doesnt really matter as they are hardly going to stay for 5-10 mins in our engines.

No buddy, not yet, looking forward to it. Will post my feedback once i use it

BTW we should be careful while using flushing oils, they might sometimes rip off the insides of the engine so clean that problems arise thereafter. Read this somewhere.

SavSol is made by Savita Chemicals - the same company that produces Honda, Hero Honda and Suzuki oil in collaboration with Idemitsu.

The oil range is interisting. You can check that at SAVSOL.

Don't forget to check the Bike Station section (like at bottom right - above the bottom bar) from their home page. This has bike specific oil suggestions based on their range and is pretty interesting stuff for many here.
They have not specified any engine oil for R15 in the catalog.

I looked up the link. The Oil Flush liquid is to be added to the old engine oil in the ratio 1:16, so about 65ml should be enough.

The engine should then be run for 15-20 minutes and the oil drained and replaced, along with the oil filter.

I however change my oil every 2000km or less. A flush sounds like overkill.

          • Guys, I have a small query. At how many kms should I change the engine oil for my Bajaj Platina? I currently use Castrol SAE 20W-40.

Last week I spotted a bottle of 15w50 semisynth yamalube at a yamaha genuine dealer. The guy is a knowledgeable old gentleman and said it's for the R15.

It was 465 or 435 for a 1L bottle. was planning to buy it for my 180

Yeah, that is Yamalube semi-synthetic for Rs.415. I am using it for my R15. I have posted the can pics on the R15 thread. It is good, but causes a bit of growling, like all other synths do.

I am currently using the same semi-synth Yama lube. This oil is marginally better than the mineral oil which was provided earlier by Yamaha. You should rather go for Motul than Yamalube.

Must be the same. But the price I saw was printed on the bottle. It def wasn't 415 though. I'm sure coz I had just checked up the price of motul semisynth and it was 415. I did remark to my bro that motul was finally cheaper

I had to do a 200km run, so I searched a lot of places for some good oil. The only w50 I could find was castrol gtx but It had a 'for petrol cars' label. so I went for the bajaj oe oil at the service centre. Think it was veedol.
The service centre guy said it was the best oil around as the company was offering a 5yr warranty on the engine.

Stick to the required grade... 20W40 or 10W40.

That growling is not a problem. That indicates that the engine is able to revv freely. A good thing.

I think I should second that if a Pulsar is in question. Don't really now about the YamaLube Semi Synth so much.

Veedol is good. The statement by the SC guy is indeed good and let us hope that they do maintain good quality oil at the SC's...

There's no other yamaha running w50 i suppose

Crux to R15, Yamaha bikes come with 20W40 grade oil recommended. Not sure what it is for the MT-01. But then, using a 15W50 oil shouldn't harm the engine in any way... I guess it should be better in fact.
