Also if you can manage to get a genuine CASTROL dealer, go for Castrol Power 1 SS 15w-40! I am currently using this with improved performance.
No W40 oils as of now. Moreover i dont like castrol much.

Both are highly refined minerals & not semi synth as they claim to be (not sure about castrol).

Aha! You don't like because all the reviews you have listened to over here? What makes you so sure that they are not SS?

Why not w40 oil? Recommendation is w50 for your ride?

Not exactly. I tried it once in my dio & was not satisfied with it.

Well their technical data sheets say so. The shell is made from group 3 base stock which is not a semi synth in true sense. Its just a highly refined mineral oil. Though am not sure about the same for castrol but i did heard it from a few people.

I dint said that shell was bad. But its just not a semi synth as it claims to be.

Well my bike's engine generates way too much of heat after the mods. So W40 oil will not suffice.

        • It seems that Shell has two Fs oils.
          1.Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 :- Rs 780.
          2.Shell Advance Ultra 5W40 :- Rs 1200 (approx).

The Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 is not easily available as the stocks don't last in pumps. Heard that the 5W40 is a replacement of the 10W40..
But Shell Advance Ultra 5W40 is not specified for bikes. Can it be used for bikes??

Well its not shell advance ultra but its actually shell helix ultra. And yes the helix ultra 5W40 is for cars & not for bikes.

            • can anyone point me to list of 5w40 grade oils having API SL and JASO MA certification..in India?

              i know it's a rare oil.
presently the service center is giving petromax. looks good to me so far but it would be better to have choices for comparison.

Nope. Its a bike oil. Its infamous only because of its oil drying issue. Many have used it earlier too. But now it has been replaced by 300V 10W40. If you are lucky then you can get an old stock bottle.

                          Sorry for the wrong name..
I got a doubt, Agip Racing 5w40 & Shell HELIX ultra 5W40 have same rating, & helix is only for cars??

I'm not a lucky guy (yet) who can spend on FS oils. But the car oil thingy was told by a motul guy in some other site. (Facebook i think)

Yes they have a same rating but shell is for cars & agip is for bikes. The whole helix range of shell is for cars.
