• Re: Engine Oils

My friend had 1.1 liter of shell helix pennzoil gold 15w40 oil left..... from his car...
Yes you read that right from his car and 15w40
He gave me a liter in an old bisleri bottle and kept the can himself.....
Anyways came home drained my 1700 km old motul 20w50 3100 gold it looked black already proly im running rich.,...quantity drained was 970ml and poured this into my bike..... 1000ml

Im glad I did!!!! Pulsar classic is one hell of an unrefined bike.... hell it feels like a honda!!!!(just an expression) Silent and smooth.... revs a little less freely but not restricted in any way. Did a fast run with that oil and it held good!
Will check the oil every single day! To see quantity and quality.
Did notice a little clutch slippage but just once nothing major! Not a biggie! Will post more results about it, at 500 km and at 1000km.
Experts any view on this? Any harm? Engine is running cool and smooth....
Gesr shifts are a precise click..... and thats on a pulsar classic!
Clutch also seems light.. well let the oilnrunn in for 100 km then do a quick acceleration test.
If there are no side effects id like to stick to this oil....
At about rs 1410 for 6 liters it pretty cheap too!!
Any views?

Cheerz!!
As Pinaki sir has stated "Unless the label bears this exact symbol with the corresponding JASO certification number and year , it is not a JASO certified oil - whatever else may be claimed ."

And my point is that the list has Castrol mentioned with corresponding Jaso certification number, but in India none of the castrol bottles have the exact symbol and corresponding certification number that pinaki sir has posted.

And my suggestion is to look out for the exact symbol that Pinaki Sir has posted if you are looking for a real JASO certified oil.

Anybody tried the MAK 4T NXT?? The sae gradeless oil.. A lot has been said on its website. The company says it gives ultimate protection to higher cc bikes(125cc or above). Need a good review of this product from someone who tried it.

I tried MAK 4T nxt in my cb unicorn. Feel it too thick for the bike. top speed is reduced a bit.

All global OMC's can register there engine oil for JASO certification from any country and can claim JASO MA/MA2 when they sell the oil in other country. So, if HPCL / IOCL or any other OMC manufacture there oil and send for JASO testing and get JASO MA/MA2, when they sell there oil in other country, they can claim the JASO certification. Same goes for Motul, Shell, Total and other OMC's.

• MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC OIL for RTR APACHE 160 reg

hello xBhp"ans ,

i am using RTR APACHE 160 currently running on 20,0000 kms were all my service was done by TVS . but i was not satisfied wtih the service they provide. so i decided

to service my bike privately.

while surfing on net i came to known about MOBIL 1 SYSNTHETIC OIL will be better
, but the problem is

only 10W40 is available in coimbatore, TAMILNADU but the company recommended grade is 20W40

will there be any problem if i use 10w40 instead of 20w40 if so explain it and suggest me a good oil in MOBIL 1.

or can i go for 15w40 in the same MOBIL 1 if it is available.

kindly advice as soon as possible since my bike is due for service.

regards

Hi
I currently own a cbz classic (2001)
Which I changed the bore about 11k km ago.
Would 10w30 be an OK oil to use I herd that hero recommends that in all of their bikes regard less of year of manufacture. Iv also read that 10w30 improves milage and acceleration . I currently use gulf mineral 20w40 which I find works best in my cbz. Would using 10w30 be a bad idea.

I dont know what happened to hero they suddenly changed oil for all their engines to 10w30.....Personally I belive that its a bad move since all the engines they have are not same and I believe quoting one oil for all models with different engines is kind of stupid.
Now in summers thr oil looses viscosity very quicky and hence 20w40 is recommended. Pinaki sir im tagging you in since you are the expert in hero cbz and splendour engines.
He advices to use 10w30 oils and that is what I will advice you too.
But 10w40 wont make much difference. I would go with a 10w40 to get the best of both worlds of a 10w30 and a 20w40...
Also the cbz classic engine was very unhonda type it was rough and harsh and not as smoth as the current gen cbz so 20w40 was suited.
A very debatable topic here.

Get a good mineral 10w40 (motul, elf, veedol)
Semi synth and synthetic have a tendency to vaporise in extreme summer heat.

Thanks for the quick reply .. Iv tried many oils before the new bore most of them used to degrade after 1000-1500km.. Only gulf pride 20w40 seems to last iv read a lot of posts from sibun regarding using 20w40 in newer xtreams as the clearance of the bore is less and thinner oils work better. Just wanted to know if 10w30 would work or just mess up my engine

Also a very weird sight....
Extremely hot sunny 1 pm afternoon
I was stuck at trafic on my bike... took 40 mins to cover 2 km....:banghead::banghead:
All the discover sts and new discovers I saw had smoking exhauts... white smoke was coming out from each bike (around 4 bikes) and the bikes kept stalling....
All the bikers I saw had no issue with the smoking exhaust and simply didnt look st their bikes.
My bike was also sounding very harsh today and I am sure the engine was over heating....
Kept the bike in shad for about 1 hr and came back to ride it. It sounded fresh as a daisy!

I had seen something similar once when a friend of mine just picked up an FZ we had done a trip to lonavla after his run (I think he had finished 2k) we were going up a river bed his bike was smoking along during that climb surprising as his bike was new my bike wasn't in the best shape but I managed to pull easily on that climb.
