Your running is on lower side. IMO, go for Mineral (Motul 3000) or Semi-Synthetic (Motul 5100) oil. 300V is Full-Synthetic oil and costs whopping Rs. 1100/ltr of can. If you are keen on Full-Synthetic oil, there is Motul 7100 (not sure if 15W50 is there or not), this will be easy on pocket. Although, if you are not cost concious and don't mind spending a bit, then go for Motul 300V with eyes closed. It is a gem of an oil.

    Drain Mineral oil @ 2000kms, Semi-Synthetic @ 3000kms, Full-Synthetic @ 4000-4500kms.

    Cheerz!!
    That was very helpful.
As you've mentioned time period for changing oil, for semi synthetic, is it regardless of the time?
I mean 3000 kms will be covered in nearly 6-7 months according to my usage.

Not advisable to stretch the oil to 6-7 month period, best will be to change the oil within 3-4 month (since your usage is on lower side).

Bajaj oil is the worst possible oil
        It damages the engine
Try any oil other than that and notice the difference
I hav an NS and I'm useing motul 3100gold 20w50
        Runs like a dream
Vibrations reduced to less than half

Haha, I use bajaj oil as an engine flush xD

Regarding oil mixing, in my 230 I use 1000ml of 7100 and 150ml of 5100 no clutch slip, no vibes and revved till high heaven and back xD

Most of the fs oil can be used till 7000kms or so, what you can do is you can change the oil after four or five months,(as devil has already mentioned) you can stretch it to six months if you are not living in a very hot and humid state.

It is ok, small top up is fine, mainly the grades should be same.

                Motul 5100 10w30
                Motul 5100 15w50

an intermediate grade something like 15w40/10w40 is missing. I assume they only cater to prospective demand.

                Anywayz, I would like to brew a mix of above two Semi-Synths to get something between 10w40 - 20w40;

                what proportions do you recommend?

A 10W30 Oil is basically a 10W oil with VI Improvers added to it so that it behaves like a SAE30 oil at engine running temperatures. Similarly, a 15W50 Oil is a 15W oil with VI Improvers added to it so that it behaves like a SAE50 oil at engine running temperatures.

Mixing the oils will not necessarilly give you a 10W40 Oil.

By the way, Motul has 2 oils in that grade

                1) 300V 4T factory line 10W40
                2) 7100 4T 10W40

                have you tried them ??

I know, does it fall between 10w40 & 20w40? If it(50:50 mix) doesn't then which range will it be?

Stretching from Rs 350/- to 500/- took a while. Stretching it further to Rs 800+ for 1L engine oil will take a while.

Most synthetics and full synthetics oils are based on same regular oils, none unwanted byproducts gets birth when two oils are mixed, the thing is there is no known benefits by mixing two oils, in short term there is no harm, on the long term though sometimes the additives in the oils can react, stick to a single oil for best performance from your engine, and if you are not satisfied with your current oil change it completely with any other brand.

Just make sure it's JASO MA2(2011) compliant; at least JASO MA (Not MA1 though).

Logically speaking, If you mix 10w50 oil and 10w30 oil in (50:50 mix), it might give you a 10W40 oil, as the both the oils are made of 10W base oil. Only difference is in the additive packages

You need to talk to an industry expert to get an idea of the additive packages in 10w50 oil and 10w30 oil

It's JASO (2006); look for JASO (2011) certified ones. 2011 Specs are further refined.

Industry experts here or makers themselves?
