Can you get motorex oil? I normally use motul 300v but they swapped the formula so I got motorex, it's held up a lot better than the 300v, I'm really impressed. I use motul 7100 in one of my bikes too, but am going to change to Diesel engine oil next time.

Hey, just curious but how did you come to know that Motul had changed their formula.

          Not recommended
Since it can weak the compression by its detergent property

Purchased motul 3100 gold for 350₹, got 50₹ cash coupon in it. So bought 1 liter motul 3100 gold for 300₹.

The viscosity changed. So I had the shop call the distributor and find out.

I'm not quite sure why diesel oil would have more detergents than bike oil, or why it would change the compression.... Diesel oils (at least many) don't have friction modifiers like petrol car oils. Friction modifiers cause wet clutches, like in bikes, to slip.

Lots of guys over here (australia) have taken to using caltex delo 400, or similar diesel multigrade oils and have been reporting happily for years. I'm not going to use it in my rsv4, but I have a Honda 250 that I'm going to use it for.

I had to do change my engine oil to castrol semi synthetic during my bike's engine overhaul.... I used motul 300v previously...and have 700ml left of it at my hometown. But I'm thinking of trying the motul 5100 ss with 300v. Any suggestions/ opinions???...my bike is p220

300v seems like complete overkill for a low stressed bike. Aprilia say it is overkill for the rsv4, so I can't see a p220 requiring it....... 5100 should be fine.

                    Nice...

What's your take on mixing Motul 5100 10w30 & 5100 15w50 in 50:50 proportion to get something between 10w40 & 20w40? However, mix need not comply with JASO MA2.

PS: 5100 10w40 is not available/imported in India as of now.

I'm not an expert. But both are bike oils so jaso ma shouldn't be an issue.... The oils will mix, so that's not a problem. I'm not sure how the viscosity would work out, whether it would work out linearly, but I think however it worked out would be ok. What are you using it in? Does it really matter? All engines have a range of tolerance and oil changes with time.....

Mix is for my GS150R, yeah it has tolerance upto 10w50 depending on operating conditions. Yes, oil changes(properties) with time. It's just that a w50 hotter(summer) grade gives sluggish response in the initial few kilometers.

I was just curious about the mix.

I'd just go with the 50 weight.... It might be sluggish when the oil is fresh but it will work better when the oil is older.... Besides, unless you're racing, why does it matter? And if you're riding in the city, your temps will be up anyway and the oil will be thinner...

Alright, that makes sense, will drop the idea of 50:50 mixing.

PS: Suzuki recommends 20w40 grade for its GS150R.

They recommend a 50 weight for the gsxr too...... But they run motorex 60 weight in factory race bikes.

Using a diesel engine oil on an engine around 40k to 50k kms for 100kms is ok since it acts like a flush on engines that have run with old oil a lot or have been standing with oil for long and have likely deposited carbon and sludge.
Usually well maintained engines do not need flush etc.
Problem is somtimes carbon deposit is important for an engine to keep compression
A flush or high detergent carbon cleaning oils such as diesel engine oils can make them loose compression.
If you really want to experience a car oil use a petrol one without any friction modifiers .(additional friction modifiers will cause clutch slippage as we use wet multiplate clutches)
I have been using one for around 4000kms noe, shell pennzoil 15w40 I think,
Pretty good, not loosiing its viscosity yet. But i feel it takes a little longer to heat up than 20w50 and feelS thicker.
