  • Gulf in Activa

    Hey guys,

I put Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40 in my Activa when i gave it for service to Power Crest(Bangy guys might know this place)
. Super smooth, much better than the Honda oil.

@cssk: How is the synthetic perfoming in your dad's Activa? I never knew that we could put fully synthetic oil in Activa as it being gearless. What is the grade and drain interval?
The rider doesn't pick the bike, the bike picks the rider

to my knowledge all honda engines available in India have a 20W40 grade engine oil recommendation. So is the P150 classic. so you may give some business to gulf

Very good to say the least, it just accelerates till 70 in no time.
I liked it, it feels as good as new after 1000Kms.
Its 10W40, should easily last 8000Kms in activa, which which is usually ridden in 30-50Kph in the city. It may require top ups every 1000-2000Kms.

          • Hi,
have heard much on Castrol Power 1 Racing and Motul 300v FL oil but i wanted to know about Mobil.

Can someone shed some light on it or if discussed already then kindly provide me the link for the same.

I heard that its longitivity if for 20000kms and priced 1000rs and its viscosity is 0W40. Is that true, in that case can i use that oil on my Unicorn??

            • ^^^ The only motorcycle engine oils Mobil has in India are branded Yamalube. So far they are all mineral but very good oils. Semi synthetic is under plans and can launch any time... also under Yamalube.

Any synthetic you get from Mobil is a car oil and to make it double sure pls check for JASO MA or JASO MA2 rating. If it is a car oil it would be JASO MB.

So in that case i should not use JASO MB to bikes. Right?? Or can i use??

                • ^^^No, technically you should not. Though some people use it and report no problems. So its upto you if you want to take the risk.

                  • you won't find a problem right away except for some loss in pickup and a few instances of clutch slippage. But the biggest problem with these car oils is that they are too slippery for your clutch plates.

You don't want to spend Rs 1000 on an oil and have clutch slippage when you have motorcycle synthetic oils selling for below Rs 750.

                    • For a Unicorn 20W40 is recommended and Motul i am getting it for 15W50. So was worried whether i can use that. Today i checked out another shop, he had Shell 5W40 priced 1000rs which lasts 20000kms. This was said by the shopkeeper. To check the rating on it, everything was written in some language which i donno to read. (May be chinese or japnese )

Is this oil recommended or shall i go ahead with Motul 15W50 ??

Or if anyother then plz suggest me for Unicorn.

JASO rating should be mentioned in English letters only. Pls check for that as the minimum.

The Uni is better without the thicker 15w50 motul. lookout for ??w40 motul / AGIP Racing / Castrol Power1 Racing / Petronas Sprinta 5000T if you want only fully synthetic. Else pls checkout for Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40 at about Rs 200 - a semi synthetic, and you won't regret not going for a fully synthetic

BTW, did it read Shell Helix (for cars) or Shell Advance (for motorcycles)?

Its not supposed to last anywhere close to 20,000 km! And you aren't supposed to believe shopkeepers!!

50 grade oil is like a chocolate milk shake with ice cream for the unicorn. In short its too thick for the honda.i had tried 300v on the unicorn and my bike never went above 90.Had to drain it of after 300kms.750rs went down the drain
Currently using petronas and very happy with it
