That's what I am asking, should I shift to 7100?

Sure, I don't see why not. However, share the difference you feel after few hundred kms on Motul-7100 series.

Guys, I filled Shell AX7 about 2k kms ago coz I was short on cash :P , and realised its a kickass oil. Its cheap. Smooth. And even reduced the clutch slip in the RC230 I was shocked, I think I shall stick to the shell from now on. Its cheap price means I can replace it twice and still have change left for a bottle of 7100 :O give it a shot.

            Hellow my Dear Riders.
I own a 2013 Maroon C5 clocked 9000 kms on it till now. As all know the company suggests motul 15W50 oil for all RE's. As far I had been following the same oil to be used.
I have completed all my free services and now was thinking can I use castrol 20W50 for my bike as one of my friend suggested so. I have also noticed that after a long ride above 100+ km nonstop the oil tends to become thin due to heat which increases the clattering sound from the engine gear shifts also seem a bit hard. But as the engine cools the sound goes off. My bike I'd in absolute great conditions great mileage pickup no problem yet. But I road my friends bike for a long distance his bike has very less clattering sound he uses castrol 20W50. I have also done oil change and service 1100 kms back. Still got many kms to change oil. What do you guys suggest should I shift to castrol 20W50? Or stick with motul 15W50. "And also after how many kms is tappet setting required to be done" And yes there's no other problem with my bike only I think is the oil tends thin if you have any advice please reply as I don't compromise with my bike. Waiting for your advice

20w50 will be thicker than 15w50 oil, hence less clatter from the engine. You can use Pulsar 20w50 oil or motul 20w50 7100 synthetic oil as per your choice.

Hi all, I have Fazer (2012 model)
I have a small query, my running is very low, i.e. about 3k kms a year. After reading a lot in xbhp, I want to use Full Synthetic oil. As FS oils last for 4-5k kms, it will be about 1.5 yrs for me to change oil.
So my question is what is the maximum time (irrespective of the kms) that I can use a FS oil.
P.S. - my mechanic says time doesnt matter, only kms matter. Furthermore please dont suggest me to use mineral or SS as I hav used both and now want to use FS.

You can go for maximum of around 6 months on a fs.
Not just kms time does matters too.

Fs will loose its property and even volume with time even when bike is not used.

Hi guys, I just wanted to share this here since it's related to engine oils and Chemical decarbonising of engine, I bought 3M Engine Flush and added it to engine oil just before filling new one, left the bike idling for 10minutes and engine was decarbonised, not as effectively as Physical Decarbonising but a must have for every bike. The results are good, engine feels much more smoother and vibes have reduced to a great extent. Now my query, Which oil is better for Pulsar 220,Motul 5100 or Motul 7100, both are 15W50 grades? I m currently on 5100 and didnt find anything better than this, i've not used 7100 though. What is the actual difference between the two other than being fully and semi synthetic?

The oil will degrade in that long interval, As told before, Time interval also matters in life spab of oil, with time it starts loosing viscosity.

Hello there the clatter can be duebto losse tappets rather than oil. Personally no castrol 20w50 is as good as a motul 20w50... try to get hold of motul 5100 15w50 and replace all your engine oil.. also replace the engine oil filter and get the tappets adjusted on a stone cold engine... then revert back with results...

Ahhh its an offroader... unfortunately it has really thin forks for an off roader and a cone set design flaw... get hold of 20w grade fork oil by motul.... or servo.... and add about 175 to 180ml oil per fork... donot use engine oil in the fork.. also get s pair of fork oil seals before hand.

No matter which oil you use its bound to degrade in an engine. Use it or not... now this is from my experience....sitting mineral oil thickens and causes sludge formation....sitting synthetic oil is degrading for the oil seals and rubber components due to its high decarbonising nature... advice would be use a mineral... flush it with 30ml of engine oil flush every year for 10 kms or so before draining thr old oil... Replace brake oil etc also.. they degrade faster and eat away paint etc.. cheers

Stick to 5100... imo. see.... unless you are redlining all day on an higjway or insode city limits the diffrence felt between 7100 and 5100 is negligible. moreover 7100 is more likely to drop in levels compared to 5100 plus the cost saving... dont regukarly flush the engine unless it sits idle a lot... excessing flushing can degrade valve seals etc and clutch plates.

                          Divyansh....

I poured Motul's 3100 4t 20w 50 oil in my 20 yrs old Yamaha Rx-100, and man the difference is huge, when i first change the oil to current Motul i didn't found any difference and i felt that i have wasted the money but as the kms passed, the oil gets from better to brilliant, the gear box has become ultra ultra smooth, the gear box was not this smooth even when the bike was new, clutch noise has reduced and mind you this bike is pretty old, on higher rpms also the gears remain smooth power delivery gets better once the oil heats up, previously what used to happen was suppose i had to make an emergency stop and i stopped the bike in second gear then i couldn't switch to neutral without switching off the bike but with this oil that problem has totally vanished, plus even after 1000kms oil looks still new.

Don't experiment with engine oil till bike crosses 5k. Use hero mineral oil.
