Sarvajit, it is 3000 4T and not 3000V. A pretty good oil. Engine runs smooth and lasts well.. good heat management too - a typical Motul. But some of us found that out gear shift is not as slick with this oil than with other oils. If you have been using it and found it good there absolutely no reason why you shouldn't continue using it.

At teh max Motul 3000 4T 20W40. This is as per the original recommendation of Honda engines. There's no 10W30 grade oil available from Motul in the market to meet the current Hero Honda recommended specs... Since the summer is already showing its effects you may be well off with a 20W40 oil.

u don't need to flush engine oil. just don't worry about it. Max, u patiently drain all the possible oil by draining on a hot engine, for longer time and by holding the bike tilted to sides... May be you wouldn't want to over do it. pickup any good 20W40 oil recommended here... can be as simple as the Honda oil but for a change keep away from Castrol, BP Mak, Servo, HP, Valvoline.

My special recommendation is Gulf Pride 4T Plus.. if you can get it.

You are saying "I am bored of Vanilla flavour in Kwality's ice creams and I want to try Vanilla in Amul ice creams now". But I'd say "fine, but finish off the pack you bought first".

That Honda oil is no crap. Seriously.

I prefer Power one over Yamalube for my Gladiator.

      • Switched to Motul semi-synthetic 5100 4T this Saturday. I didn't quite feel any significant change as such apart from the following two things:

        1. The gear-shifts have become a tad smoother.
        2. Procuring Motul lubricants means running around from place to place.

Ofcourse, there are people who will deliver it at your door-step, but I prefer going down and getting the stuff myself, rather than sitting at home and waiting for the "home-delivery".

Any idea, as to after how many kms. should I ideally change the oil, now that I am using semi-synthetics? Three thousand kilometres?
        :)

Ask this to guys in the 220 thread. Praful was using it.

            • Aryan, keep checking the oil status (level and viscosity and maybe the colour too) every week. You'll know when to change the oil yourself.

Better gear shift is a good thing. See how the bike performs on a longer ride. There's a possibility that acceleration might be improved - like say 70-100 kind of.

Thanks for that reply HydBiker. Yes, the gear-shift has definitely become smoother. I cannot really say that for the engine, overall though. The bike feels the way it felt before, except of course the gear shitfs.

I will check for the improved acceleration thingy the next time I do go for a relatively long ride. Thanks again.

                • I have also switched to Motul 5100 15w50 from veedol Swfit 10w40.

Gear shifts have become even smoother and the bike has become much calmer around 5k-6k RPM, where it used to vibrate furiously.

At higher speeds of 80 to 100 kmph, i haven`t noticed any reduction in vibrations.

It should last easily 4000+ Kms.
I have clocked 3300Kms so far with lot of 5K-6K and above riding, it is still 70-80% as good as new(I just love its never say die attitude).
I can use it for another 1700 Kms without problems, but instead am shifting to 300V in another 700Kms.
                    Hope this helps

KP too was against me using Yamalube, but i had a pack that i wanted to use. Will look to Motul or Castrol lubes for the next oil change

I was against to drain a 400 KM old Honda Engine oil and pouring in the Yamalube. Run the Honda oil for its respectable life - at least 2K kms and use the Yamalube can u have at your next refill. Save the Castrols for a day when you don't get other oils

BTW, Power1 is Semi Synth and is a better oil than the above 2. If you really want to use it, you may want try the Gulf once - at 1/3rd or more cheaper price = same cost as mineral oil & better than the power1 in my opinion.

PS: don't itch so much to try out stuff... not healthy for your wallet.

I drained the Honda oil after 2200 kms..!! Not 400
                            Hmmm..
So do i stick with Yamalube if i find it suitable for the Uni..?

Are you not satisfied with the Honda Oil's performance?

Try out the Yamalube. As I said, an engine oil is choosen as a better one for you and your engine based on a lot of stuff including your riding conditions and riding style. Both the Honda oil and YamaLube are very good oils.

Honda & Yamaha are no jokers to brand an oil on their name but they look at an oil that'd suit most purposes in a better manner and that need not be the best for every need.

I wasn't happy with the effective drain interval of the Honda oil mate
When i drained the oil on Saturday after 2200kms, the oil was jet black and was flowing very freely. It had nearly lost all its viscosity.
I'd bought the Yamalube for my dad's P150 Dts-i v1. Since i had another pack, i decided to try it.

                                So far so good...

Time to switch bikes and oil brands too now
