  • Re: Engine Oils

Last week I bought Bajaj CT100B and have not received the manual yet. I have completed 250km on it and 1st service is due on 500km, which I will finish off in next 7 days. Can anyone recommened some good quality Engine Oil for my bike ? Service guys use Bajaj DTSi engine oil and its 250km and already the level (small-glass-window on engine) is less than 50%. From what I have read on threads here: there are much better engine oils available than Bajaj. Can anyone shed some light ?

Question #2: If engine oil is reaching the minimum mark then should I drain it completely and give a brand new oil refill or I can just mix it with new oil without any draining ?

Did a check on Gulf Oil site and they recommended Gulf Pride 4T PLUS 20w-40: http://www.gulfoilindia.com/product-...t-plus-20w-40/

Question #3: They say it is designed for 10,000 km, same what Bajaj service center guys say for Bajaj oil but forum threads say engine oil should be changed every 2-3K. So, I am gonna go for every 2K change. I see several folks recommending HDEO (Heavy-duty Engine Oils) . Will it not be an overkill for 100cc bike ? Can anyone name some good engine oils for Bajaj CT100B ?

Question #4: Is it ok to use flushing -additvies low powered 100cc bikes ? One from Motul mentioned here: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...ml#post1029626 ?

Question #5: Using Fuel-Cleaner gives any benefit: https://www.motul.com/au/en/products...tem-clean-moto

NOTE: I live in Hyderabad and weather is always hot here, almost all the year. Does this affect the oil change or quality/brand of oil used ?

To answere all your questions in one sentence:
Dont do/use anything apart from regular oil changes as mentioned in the owners manual.

If you want better oils - Use similar specification Motul brand oils.

Even if you dont have the manual, go to SVC and read the service instructions or someone else's manual.

I am using Bajaj DTSi oil as per their warranty terms. my bike has done 350 km and on 500 first service is due.

Observation: After 350km gear shifting is not as smooth as it used to be in the beginning 250 km. Its still good, no brutal-hard gear-shifting or anything. It is just not smooth as it was earlier.

Well your still in the run in phase . Which bike is this ? I felt my as200 really start opening up after the second service post 4000 or so km . Dtsi oil is bad but still useable . I plan to shift to motul 5100 after my 3rd service . I'm changing oil every 2500-3000 odd km with dtsi. I ordered 5100 from flipkart for 430 a liter
Edit:- just saw your previous post it's a ct100 . Just still with most standard mineral oils or a semi synthetic you should be good . 100 cc bikes don't need any fancy oils . Motul 3100 should be good . Stay away from castrol I find thier oils quite useless compared to others.

I've seen RE users giving good reviews about Motul 5100 which is a semi synthetic oil. I'm not very sure about 7100 on an RE though.

After 1st service, gear shifting is smooth again . ASC (Authorized Service Center ) is using Bajaj DTSi 10w30 oil for CT100B. If I use anything else then it will void the warranty, so I guess I have to stick to their oil .

I want a suggestion regarding oil for my fazer fi v2.0 which is the good one the motul 300v 15w50 or the motul 7100 10w50. I have tried with shell advance 10w40 fully synthetic oil and currently using motul 300v 15w50 and found motul much better than the shell and got a great discount on amazon now i am a motul fan . i want a suggestion regarding motul 300v 15w50 and 7100 10w50 which is best suited for my bike according to the climatic conditions here.

Are there any cases of oil leaks from the head? I have seen a lot of people complain about this with FS oils.
