Check your belt drive - and the rollers as well for any signs of undue wear and tear as this may be cause of drop in pickup when compared to before.

Please go for a 20W40 grade mineral or semisynthetic oil from Shell/veedol/elf/motul based on the brand that is easily available. Some of the owners use a xxW30 grade, but I personally prefere xxW40 grade given the temperatures in mumbai are not in single digits anytime.thicker oil will shave off a km or so from the average per liter, but I would be happy with a healthy engine with good compression even when close to one lakh kilometers.

Do remember to change the gear oil as well( please don't use the engine oil for this - use 90 grade gear oil)

You can go for an engine flush before the oil change to be sure there is no much built up over the years, I used Cyclo-flush brand and it was really good. follow the instructions on the bottle properly. Get the oil strainer on the left side of the engine near the main stand cleaned thoroughly .

Replace the engine oil and let us know your experience.

    HI
There will be no harm in using the same 20W50 grade engine oil from any brand as long as it meets the same certification standards eg API SL. I am assuming you are referring to fully synthetic oil when mentioning "high quality engine oil", there should be no harm in going for them if you wish to, there is no such thing as engine being habituated to lesser quality oil unless you have a vintage bike that is never opened and has poor oil seal condition.
Hai bro I thank you very much for valuing myquestion . I think ur mr.wingrider .

Today while riding the bike I feel gear shifting is a bit hard. Why is this ? Is this because of new oil or chain adjustment ? Please confirm. Thanks.

          1. Left over oil: I try to buy the appropriate sized container always. How much does the Shine/CBF125 take in for an oil change - I think it is 900 ml. See the owner's manual. So buy a 1L pack and keep the extra 100 ml for a top-up, if required.

          2. Measuring objects: Yes, one can use a transparent plastic mug available in many super markets (or) add the entire 1 L bottle short of 2 small teacups and adjust after checking the level. If you buy a 900 ml pack, just empty it fully.

Whichever method is followed, an oil-level check as described in the Owner's Manual is recommended.

          3. Hard gears: I think your mechanic has over tightened the chain as is common with most of them and SVCs. Also, if the clutch cable free play is more than recommended, that too will result in hard shifts. Nothing to do with the AX-7, in fact a slightly thicker 10W-40 will keep the gearbox happier than the recommended 10W-30. You might feel a slight drop in pickup (partly mechanical, mostly psychological because of reading it here) or mileage drop (slightly).

One more question. What do you do with the left over "new engine oil" ? Let us say you bought some engine oil of 1 Liter. You are supposed to use only 800 ml. Then what will you do with the left over fresh 200 ml engine oil ?

Also do you use some sort of measuring object for 800 ml accuracy ? Please enlighten.

            Thanks.

            Hi Karteek,

Some of the bottles come with a white thin strip marked with the ml on oil so that it is easy to see how much is available and use. I remember Elf engine oil bottles having this feature before. I have a couple of them saved precisely for this purpose.
As far as the left over un-used oil is concerned, if you have some amount of space to store at home keep that for topup, else transfer to a smaller pet bottle( cute little coke bottle and keep it in the bike itself to save space and use it for top up on long rides.

            Hello Arun,

Are you referring to the two stroke oil you use for RX 100? If this is what you are referring to , I have used Veedol 2t, Shell 2t, and Motul 2t oil so far in my Suzuki Samurai. All are equally good and I would recommend them based on availability in your town. The price is around 125 rupees for a half liter bottle.

If you are referring to the oil to be used in the transmission of Rx 100, please consult your owner manual for the exact grade. For Suzuki two strokes sold in India, it was 20W40 grade dont recall the API rating though. I have used Shell AX 7, Elf 20W40 and Motul 20W40 semi synthetic so far. All are good. Any semisynthetic 20W40 will cost between 350 to 450 per liter depending on the brand and retailer.

First of all thanks much for your reply. My Shine is 2008 model it uses 800 ml only as per manual. I will ask mechanic to check the slack and clutch free play again.

If I use 10W40 instead of 10W30, does it really affect mileage ? I didn't expect this. I thought engine might feel a bit less harsh on it's part and deliver me a better mileage. Please educate me as per your convenience.

Also one more question. since a week when I depress the clutch lever and release it, I am hearing a small squeaking sound why is it so ? I can hera this squeak sound at the lever hinge hence applied grease all purpose but still it didn't get the sound reduced. Please guide me.

              Thanks once again.

Mileage drop will be very very less, i.e. If you were getting 55 kmpl on 10w-30, you might get 2-3 kmpl less in similar conditions on a xW-40. Ignore it. If a squeak is heard near the pivot point of the clutch lever, check whether the clutch cable is starting to give off (it is made up of tiny metal wires twisted together - they start failing one by one and finally the "cable" breaks). If the squeak is heard near the clutch actuating arm near the engine, more experienced people on the forum would be able to help. Anyway, we are going OT here with respect to oils. Please post further queries in Shine ownership thread.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will request my mechanic to look into as you pointed out. I have posted few in Honda Shine thread, alas no replies and guidance. Hence I posted here.

Has anyone used Bizol engine oil in their bike? Its claimed to be imported from Germany. In India, its marketed by Bizol Grenvo. Bizol is listed in Amazon.in as well. There is not much of a review any where.

There so many good brands available in india..some are imported too like motul,mobil.etc..then why do experiment with your bike.. nothing is better than motul and castrol in terms of motorcycle specific engine oil.

I purchased Bizol moto from paytm(25% cashback), filled it in my Gixxer this morning.
one thing I noticed is unlike other oils this feels very sticky/slimy to touch. As usual the engine feels very smooth and rev happy(since it is synthetic). I am satisfied for now, and only time/kms will tell how good this oil is.

Thanks bros. Have been using Motul 7100 in my 200 NS for years. The engine is harsh. So I thought I will use something else.
Bizol seems to be overpriced. Another one I had in mind was Elf Moto 4Tech.
