      • Need help in selecting engine oil grade.

Guys, I have decided to go for Motul full synthetic oil for my yamaha ss125.

So which engine oil would be better for my bike Motul 7100 10W40 or 20W50 or any other grade??( Yamaha recommends 20W40 but the shopkeeper told me that fully synthetic 20W40 is not possible.)

        Additional info:
My bike has completed 9k kms and had cold starting problem with yamalube and castrol engine oil(20W40). The throttle remained unresponsive for the first kilometre or so, but now it has reduced a lot after shifting to elf 20W40.

          Stick to company recommend grade.20w40.
Semi synthetic oil is available in this grade. From valvolin.

          Hope it helps

          Cheers and enjoy the ride.

No problem at all. There won't be any problem switching between engine oils of different manufactures. As long as the grade are the same, mineral, SS or FS don't matter. Always stick to the right grade.

You get 10w40 in Motul 7100 and 300V. For the Yamaha 125ss 7100 is pure overkill. What I would suggest is get motul 5100 10w40 Technosynthese/ Semi Synthetic. Or if you want an even more affordable option, you can get the Motul 3100 Gold for the same rating which, again is SS and offers good performance for commuter motorcycles.

Check your carb settings, if you have idle problems during early morning cold starts. Use choke before you start the motorcycle and the keep the choke on for a 10 to 15 seconds. Plus, too thick an oil grade means your engine is working hard till the oil heats up enough for it to be responsive, the lag which you feel. Stick to manufacturer recommended oil grade.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            THE END

Or Motul 3000 20W40 if 5100 10W40 is not available.

Hi Guys, I thought of changing the engine oil of my SUZUKI GIXXER from the stock oil the next service. My bike has done 10.5K Kms. My daily commute to my college is 80 Kms, I ride around speed of 65+kmph & frequently do 100kmph at some stretches. I,m thinking of switching to Semi-Synthetic Oil.

Please suggest me a good oil for my bike!! (Recommended Grade is 10W-40)

Also is it OK to switch directly from Mineral Oil to Fully Synthetic Oil?

Drain interval for all oils is the same as given in your bike's owner's manual . You may reduce that interval in kms or duration of use if bike is in service under severe conditions . But never extend the drain interval .

                        • Question regarding oil

                          Hi

Has anyone used Castrol GTX Ultraclean (5W-30) for their 4-stroke motorcycles?
Just wanted to know if the oil is suitable for vehicles or meant only for cars.

                          Thanks

10w30 is what's recommended. Check your SVC manual. Motul 5100 is available in that grade

Not available oil viscosity 10W30 in Iran
Use oil viscosity (10W40 API:SL semi synthetic) Hurting?
