Use oil viscosity (10W40 API:SL semi synthetic) Hurting?
No problem. You can use 10W40 semi-synthetic oil.

    • Fully Synthetic Oil on scooters

      Hi,

I currently own an CBR 250R and TVS scooty zest with ODO of 12k.

One of my friend suggeste to use Fully synthetic oil on scooty zest.
My question here is can Fully synthetic oil be used for Scooty zest?

I feel like it's an overkill to that small engine...

      Can anyone please clarify.

      Thanks in advance

You are absolutely right...fully synthetic can be overkill for small scooter engines...just use plain mineral oil and change it every 1.8 to 2k kms...

Yes, as long as the grade does not vary too much... Like say, adding 3100 20w50 to a 5100 10w30 is not a wise move. Whereas mixing the same 3100 to 5100 15w50 is OK.

              Cheers

Thanks ! Was just trying to assure myself since I have done this couple of times. Also, was worried since 5100 is single ester.
Will pave way for smooth transition to Motul 7100.
Anyone has an idea if Motul 7100 10w50 will cause any issues like leakage on Pulsar 150 ug4.5 ? Please shed some knowledge on this, else I shall be opting for 20w50 in Motul 7100 next.

So which engine oil would be better for my bike Motul 7100 10W40 or 20W50 or any other grade??( Yamaha recommends 20W40 but the shopkeeper told me that fully synthetic 20W40 is not possible.)

                  Additional info:
My bike has completed 9k kms and had cold starting problem with yamalube and castrol engine oil(20W40). The throttle remained unresponsive for the first kilometre or so, but now it has reduced a lot after shifting to elf 20W40.
Give a try to castrol power1 15w40...very smooth engine oil

Go with Valvoline Premium or Motul 5100 in the grade recommended in your manual.

                        Hi friends,

I wanted to enquire if we can use the Motul 5100/7100 in the Harley Davidson Street 750 (with the specified ratings)? A friend asked this to me and this got me thinking: What engine oil do superbikes use? Can the generic Motul oil like 5100/7100/300V be used there as long as they match the recommended specifications? Or are there some special oils to take care of the higher displacement engines in these bikes?

                        Thanks,
                        Rachit

300v is an engine oil specifically for superbikes. A recommended grade from a decent manufacturer, preferably synthetic is great.

I am using motul 7100 10w40 fully synthetic engine oil on my fzs v2.
If I want to switch back to the company recommended mineral oil which is 10w40 optima yamahalube , can I simply drain the old synthetic oil and pour the mineral oil?
Is it safe to switch from synthetic to mineral oil? I am really confused as I found mixed variety of opinion all around the internet.
The reason I want to change is because I find motul 7100 really expensive for me as I mostly do city commute and use my bike very little so can anyone suggest any 10w40 grade engine oil within the range of Rs 300-400 which is best suited for fzs v2.
I also found the yamahalube full synthetic 10w40 sporty premium costs around Rs 400 has anyone used it on their fzs? If yes then how is the performance?

Go for motul 7100 its the best in the market. You will find butter smooth performance in this oil and after 2000km this oil will become more smooth. Currently i am using this for my pulsar and pickup is great. If u do not go to high rev or cross 9000 rpm you can go for 5100 it is also best. I have used both. 7100 is good for me because i go to more agressive riding.

First go for 5100 motul for nearly about 2000 to 3000 km and then switch to motul 7100. It will be best.
