As of now there are no semi synthetic options available in agip in india. There are only two types of oils offered by agip. One is mineral (Rs.200) & other is agip racing full synthetic (Rs.620). The agip full synthetic is a very good oil. I have been using the oil for past 5000 kms & the engine is smooth. The oil is working like a charm in the bike. I suggest you also to try the same.Originally posted by Prabhakar150 View PostAny semi synthetic options available in agip? Grade is 20w40. Pls mention prices also.NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

Well when you compare the price of agip to that of castrol & motul then you will find the price to be cheaper. Anyways most of the synthetic oils last for more than 5000 kms. So if you change the oil according to that interval then you will find the oil to be cheaper & economical. 2.5kms is way to less for a synthetic although it is a right interval for a mineral oil.Originally posted by Prabhakar150 View PostI am still stuck between veedol semi synthetic n motul 3000 plus. 600 rs is too costly for me since i used to change the oil at every 2.5kms. 350 rs is max wat could be invested in my case..NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

Yeah four oil changes hav been done till date. First two service centre oil and d other two i used elf moto4. Used only mineral oils with drain period of 2.5k kms average. Switching to semi synthetic for first time n somethin around 3k kms of oil life is fairly enough. Initially had motul 5100 15w50 in mind. But as per d suggestions searchin for 20w40 semi synthetic oil for around 350 rupees.Originally posted by madhav krishna View PostWell when you compare the price of agip to that of castrol & motul then you will find the price to be cheaper. And i expect veedol ss to be better than mineral motul 3000 plus.. 200 more kms for next service.

The veedol SS being a semi synth oil would surely be better than a motul mineral oil.Originally posted by Prabhakar150 View PostYeah four oil changes hav been done till date. Unfortunately in india we dont have too many options in semi synth oils. The motul is the only thing you have got. You can try the castrol power one or shell VSX. They come at a price tag even less than your budget. The castrol comes for 280 & the shell also comes for 285. But a lot of people say that the castrol power one is not a good oil & the datasheets reveal that even the shell VSX is not a semi synth oil. Instead its a highly refined mineral oil with a few additives.
Anyways from your budget the best choice would be shell VSX.NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

Guys.... I am new to this thread. My doubt is..
20w-40 is recommended for Yamaha R15 and it is written in manual. But The SVC people use Yamalube 15W-50 when ever i got my bike to service. Although it has done only 2 services and the people from Yamaha also says that grade engine oil(15W-50) is specially made for Yamaha R15.
As per the manual says we should use only W40 oil as 40 weight is the viscosity of oil in working engine. But if we use 15W-50, I think it is thicker than W40 oil in working condition and makes the engine rough and makes difficult for the oil pump too... Right? I don't know whether this is discussed earlier. But guys.. Throw some light on this..If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

AFAIK the recommended grade for an R15 is 15W50 & not 20W40. It was misprinted in few manuals of earlier batch R15. It has been corrected now & has been made as 15W50.Originally posted by ezy_rider View PostGuys.... I am new to this thread. My doubt is..

Dude... my bike is only two and a half months old.. Do you think there was a printing mistake with that batch of bikes...?Originally posted by madhav krishna View PostAFAIK the recommended grade for an R15 is 15W50 & not 20W40.
