I am thinking of buying the following riding gears before my Leh trip..Let me know which one to go for?

    1. Riding Jacket ( Mesh ) -
    a) DSG Nero - DSG Nero Jacket - Rs5,300.00
    b) RJays Swift/Octane - RJays Jackets - BACHOO MOTOR & CYCLE COMPANY Is Octane worth the price tag?
    c) Cramster Raptor -
You do have one more option - the Cramster K2K, that is supposed to be more suited to the climate there. If you consider for use on a regular basis (post the Leh trip) the Nero should suffice. The Raptor is a good option to the Nero, the choice between the two can even come down to the look you prefer - sober with the Nero or a bit stylish with the Raptor. Havent seen the RJays personally so not commenting on them.

    2. Gloves
    a) Cramster Twister -
    b) DSG Revive - DSG Revive Gloves - Rs1,990.00
    c)Cramster TRG2 - Is it worth it?
Ive personally found the fit of the TRG2 perfect while I never liked the feel or fit of any of DSGs full gauntlets (and Ive tried all their models). There are those who swear by the Revive and some have had complaints with the build quality of Cramster. Try both if possible, and see which you are more comfortable in.

    3. Saddle Bag
    a) Cramster Colt -
I have CBZ Xtreme and think that this is the one that will fit it. Are there any other companies who make saddle bags? I couldn't find any other options.
Just check with them regarding the suitability for the bike before buying it.

    4. Knee protectors
    a) Cramster (Bionic) -
You have other options like fox but the Cramsters are tried and trusted. Go for it. VFM.

What do you guys have to say about these stuff? Which ones should I go for? Positives? Negative? anything . Also as I am working in Hyderabad, where there are no shops to buy these things, should I personally go to Bangalore/Pune to get these or get them shipped. Just worried about fit and comfort.
Have added my comments inline. See if you can try out the stuff before buying it especially the gloves. Worst case scenario, if you cant find it in any of the shops there, try contacting other Hyd xbhpians and see if you can check for fit and finish as well as owner feedback. Happy shopping !

                  Hi Fahim,

No problems with the Nero. A lot of guys on xbhp use it (myself included) and have posted reviews, feedback on this thread. Would advise you to spend some time going through this thread so that you can make a more informed decision.

                  • Hey Neil - What's your opinion on this Alpine Star Verona Air Jacket?

From what I see, it has armor that Nero is missing (besides this is Alpine star ). Any idea if all other requirements are same as Nero with additional armor?

Ps - Requirements would be to use it in Summer as well as Winter with removable inner lining + armor protection; if it can be used in rain good, but not compulsory.

The Nero has a warm inner liner which can be removed so you wont fry in the summer heat.

                          Hey Aargee,
Havent seen this jacket personally. Going through the specs I realised that the armour levels are the same as the Nero while this jacket has compartments for chest and back armour. Which means you need to pay extra for these. I am guessing that this is the part Alpinestars Boinic Back Protector Level 2 CE Armor - Rs7,990.. and it comes for 8k. Add the chest pads Alpinestars Bionic Chest Pads - Rs1,199.00 for 1.2k. Pushes up the price a lot.

Isnt it funny how they have mentioned 'Astar embroidered logos on shoulders and chest' as on of the jackets features !

Extra of about Rs 2700 odd right? But you see, 1200 for chest pads + 1200 back protector is only Rs 2400. So if I buy the Nero jacket + 2 of these, the cost will still be lesser than Alpine Star. Correct me if I'm wrong. But your reply has made me confirm one thing for sure - NO ONLINE ORDERING. I'll make a personal visit to Kochi/Bangalore, spend sometime, have a look & feel of things & then buy. Which mean, along with the jacket, there's a probability for a touring bag or may be even riding pants.

                              • Hi guyz.
Im planning to buy a jacket soon.
Im a little confused between the yamaha R15 jacket and the DSG nero.
Will you please help me make my decision
Both of them cost almost the same.
I live in pune and the temperature is generally warm
I dont ride in the rains so water protection not necessary.
                                Please help me out.
                                Thanks.
