Yes, Spartan HELIOS does come with a rain lining with it. And unlike the expensive ones out there with the same spec, it's pretty VFM considering the price tag and the features it has.Originally posted by bala.gg View Post.....does Spartan has rain protection lining with it ?
Not a problem. Anytime.Originally posted by bala.gg View PostThanks B7ACKTHORN, have sent them a mail for more information on Spartan. Will check out Cramster in chennai this weekend.
Cheers!

My first riding gears
It is three months in Xbhp. When I came here first all I know about safety gears was a helmet. Had my share of accidents in the past, included 2 months of 'one leg' walk hurting my left knee during a bad slide. Realized the existence and importance of riding gears once I became a member here. Started my search for gears and saving money in bank account.
After some research, advices from fellow Xbhpians went for the Spartan Helios jacket. Spent 5500 bucks on it.

Back look:

First Impression
1. The jacket looks damn sexy, super hot. I am all in love with the jacket. The jacket has an upmarket feel to it, the zippers, velcro all look top quality
2. Armours- All the armours are CE approved and fit snugly when I wear the jacket. Easy to remove and wash them.
3. Comes with a separable rain liner. This can be used separately as a Windcheater. The best part is when you wear the jacket with the liner, you can remove the jacket without removing the liner. Same thing vice versa.
When i feel I want to wear the jacket with the liner, I usually wear the liner separately and then wear the jacket on it and zip them together. I have not used any jackets before so don know about others, but this feature is cool
4. The jacket is water resistant but as advised in rains it is better to wear a rain coat on top of the jacket. Tested it in light rain, performs good.
5. Pockets - It has pockets everywhere
so spacious. Four packets in all, two near the waist with zippers outside and two packets inside to keep stuff like ipods, phones , cameras which we want to keep away from water all time. There is a slot to take our earphones out near the right collar for our music lovers. Frankly I don know whether I will use this I am against hearing music on road.
6. It is a mesh jacket and I use it without the rain liner in Chennai. Super air flow and I don feel like I wear a jacket when on the move. When in signals or at parking, the discomfort level can be compared to any other normal jacket we wear. It handles the Chennai climate really well.
7. The jacket has 3M Scotchlite liner which comes handy in night situations. It reflects the headlight of the vehicles near you and makes you glow like a 'Alien Spaceship' rider
8. It comes with a Blazer cover so no worries of stashing it in the dressboard.
With the flash on you will look like this

Only slight prob I have is when I wear the rain liner I feel a tight fit in the arm region and slightly uncomfortable. And in Chennai heat if you try the inner liner it is like slow boiling. Even during light rains the humidity makes you sweat a lot.
Hope this helps fellow members.
Another issue is when I take it to office I find it difficult to keep the jacket in a bag. So guys who wear a jacket to office where do u keep it. Or how do u pack it. This area I need to master.
Got two sets of knee guards, a review of it will follow

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.
It was not that far on the map.

Pretty clean review there. Can you kindly post the pictures of the jacket with the liner removed and the jacket placed side by side, high-res (not necessarily high-res, but clear unblurred) photos pleaseOriginally posted by Chandru Raj View PostFirst Impression

. Glad I helped a bit. No the photos you posted we fine, but I and other members who might be interested in this jacket, would like to see, how the inside is with the jacket liner removed and the jacket and the liner side by side.
And doesn't it have the tag on where it's made, it should have it right?
Awating for the photos earliest.
Cheers!

err how good do these Adidas or Reebok rain jackets perform in moderate to heavy rain?
that said i meant how do they perform while riding.
i actually want to buy a decent rain jacket that can be doubled up as wind cheater too.
i won't mind if i have to buy rain pants separately.
i am never brand conscious but after seeing a rain jacket in a Reebok store , i really liked it. light weight and fitted good too. the price was in higher range though
1799 INR before the 30% discount.
any sort of advice is welcome.
don't want to invest money for this every year!Last edited by murlidhar; 07-05-2012, 09:05 PM.

Speaking of which, nowadays retail jackets retail close to 1/20th of the price of a proper riding jacket. I used an Adidas jacket of my brother which I used as both windcheater and rain protector, worked pretty good. And it used to get sweaty wearing those even in rainy days. Can't comment about Adidas, never used their jacket/windcheater.
There are lots of water-proof suits especially made for riding. Check them out.
Cheers!
