Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Agree half face ones complement the Harley style, but if you crash the first thing to go will be the jaw, and that will surely not go with the harley styleOriginally posted by HKR View PostI am looking for a good full/half faced helmet (cant really decide which one to go for, safety wise full face is always advised ) however since i am planning on getting a Harley 883 the half faced ones complement the Harley style.
I don't have a huge budget something around 3-5K so please suggest me something.
Thanks
Still if you want then get a modular helmet so you can flaunt your aviators at your entry in IBW and also have safety with the full face mode on the highway. In that budget, MT optimus would be the best bet.

That is some superb support form the brand. I am glad that I am using a Rynox Jacket now, a sense of relief. TBG, you should consider.Originally posted by JishnuSur View PostHey mate!
I've returned the third jacket already. I shall be getting the full refund by the dealer as Rynox said they cannot refund me directly, it all depends on the dealer.
Rynox were kind enough to offer me a croc mount foc. They also mentioned they assure me that if the third Jacket has issues, they'll replace that too. Their motto is to satisfy the customer but as its quiet far from my place i chose to take a refund instead.
Now my question is which jacket should I buy? I dont really like spartan/dsg jackets. What i am left with are Zeus, TBG and any other if you can recommend.
Thanks & Regards
Spartan/Zeus/DSG a big No !

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Is your jacket sas tec compatible because sas tec armors are larger then even bmw armors. And regular armors to so how did you fir them in your jacket.Originally posted by Naveen Vajja View PostThis post is a little OT ... or is it. It is still regarding Riding
What you see on the top is a Wilson's leather jacket. Something that has kept me company for ages. I had a Scorpion Exo skeleton when I was riding in the US and then I just had this jacket for the past 5 years. It has seen me through the sun come may rain.
But for sometime I have always felt the need for better protection. Though I might be getting some level of Abrasion resistance from the jacket itself, there is not standard armor.
And Hyderabad is full of crazy bastards; one of which almost killed me 2 weeks ago by jumping over the meridian and almost hitting me from the side. I went to the store and tried on quite a few jackets before buying the Spartan Helios. of most importance being that ventilation should be high. I have always ridden wearing a leather jacket and i wanted to not smell like a baboon's armpit by the time I got to office.
But I missed my jacket. I could wear it anywhere and be hip and cool. With this jacket I can't do that. People think I'm some crazy biker/racer dude on whom 'ROAD RASH' was based (you kids go youtube it)
So I bought these
SASTEC Level 2 protectors from Solace International - Shoulder + Elbow + Back. They arrived today and I've having a field day with the new SJCAM 5000 WiFi I bought ....
Came in a weird looking box sent via EMS - Speedpost. Good job keeping the Postal service alive ....
Not sure why it has a PayTm writing on the inside ... strange
Invoice for people who want to know the price
Its Bundled up as a set ... good enough packaging. These things are very malleable and ductile ... more on that later. They feel like clay dough we used to play with. But apply pressure quick and you will see why they are so good :-)
The rating displayed is EN1621-1 2012 and marked CE level 2.... and the appropriate labels
Comparing the KNOX from the Helios to these ... the Know looks very 'formed' while these are soft and squishy.
So here's the idea ...
Now I have order 3M VHB tapes along with resin from Amazon. So when I get them in I'll try to fix them to the jacket. Or maybe I'll have pockets stitched to put these in ... but then again stitching leather is a pain and I have to go else where to get it done.
What I'm not sure of is ... when I look at these touring jackets vs the race leathers that I have never seen ... do the armors need to slide like they do inside the pockets. Or ... can they be held tight like what they would be when I'm done ... am I doing it right !!! Will I lose my favorite jacket for ever if I do this ....
With all the cray stuff said and done till date ... this is another
Even I am thinking of to buy a sas tec jacket but i am in a no go budget so thought to buy a jacket and sas tec armors and switch the armors but then while searching some jackets got to know from revzilla that sas tecs are bigger then knox and normal armors so in a big confusion for what to go
Solace defender jacket has sas tec armors but has back protector of normal foam padding and it is not openable so cant go dor that too sad for me [emoji22]

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
In addition to Probiker MG Road, you can check if Moto101 bund garden road has it. It is not shown on the website now but maybe the store will have it. I am not aware of any other modular helmet options other than the vega, steelbird, studds ones. Why not connect with harley riders for this? I am sure you might get few options from there.Originally posted by HKR View PostThats for the advice, any where in pune i can buy this and the aprox price?

In talks with Rynox again, this time directly with the company.Originally posted by Astrix View PostThat is some superb support form the brand. I am glad that I am using a Rynox Jacket now, a sense of relief. TBG, you should consider.
Spartan/Zeus/DSG a big No !
Checked out Solace Defender jacket too, seems quiet nice but its almost 50% lighter than the Tornado pro.
TBG, i shall check it out again though it doesn't have a rain liner built it (Riessa).
I checked so many jackets, to my knowledge there is no perfect jacket. All have pros and cons.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I was thinking getting a full faced for highway and long rides and for daily city commute i could get a half faced one which would complement my harley style and oakley shades
Most of my friends owning a harley are not avid bikers, they just bought the HD because they had the money to do so! Getting advice from them would be usless. Once i meet with some HOG members after getting my HD i can get proper advice on what to do and what not to.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hey Guys,
Last week had a nasty fall from my bike due to oil slippage on the road, although I was riding in early 30's but still could not avoid the fall. My front tyres gave up and I fell on my right side. Full weight of my body was on my right arm and it broke in two places on impact, although I was in full gear and thanks to the helmet and knee guards my face and knee is still unhurt. Right now recovering from broken arm. It would be very helpful if you guys suggest me about slip on elbow guards/protectors, which I can wear inside my riding jacket for extra protection? Or a good jacket with great protection/armour within Rs 15000, if slip on elbow guards are not available.
Thanks in advance

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Get well soon bro. To answer ur query, Whatever armor you wear it ll be inevitable at certain cases to avoid such injury. It's just bad luck. The culprit here might be your own weight. Even if you had a better armor you might have still got hurt. If you don't bother, can I ask how much do you weigh? What jacket were you using?Originally posted by andy0104 View PostHey Guys,
