  • Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread

I've been using Rynox Tornado Pro jacket for some time now and recently lent it to a friend for a trip. Now that I wanna wash it I realized that while the Knox Armours shoulder and elbows came out easily the back foam plate section is poorly designed! Looking at the size of the velcro to remove it could give any designer a heart attack! Its obvious that the back plate pocket was never designed, it was simply slipped between the two mesh fabric and then the sides were stitched around it to make it look like a pocket. Poor design is modest word for it.

So now I'm in a fix. How the hell shd i wash the damn thing? What will happen to the back foam if I wash with that stil in place. I plan to put the jacket in the washing machine.

You may need to dry clean it I guess.

I wanted to wash the jacket last week and removed shoulder/elbow armor easily, then after struggling a lot with the back protector i put the elbow and shoulder armors back on and left it dirty, there is literally no way to remove it easily. I have emailed rynox regarding this, lets see what happens

Dry cleaning will damage the fabric.

Try bending the foam and removing. It's the same in most jackets.

Its quite a stiff foam peice, won't bending actually damage it? Also how much to bend it's like I'll have to fold it thrice over to even think of taking it out!

Even I had the same problem with my rynox asphalt no way to remove the back protector. I removed the shoulder and elbow protectors kept the jacket in a bucket with soap water for two hours and then rinsed it.

Did it affect the back foam in any manner?

Need to buy short cuff gloves.
Just cant live without my wristwatch for even 2 minutes, and full gauntlets eliminate the possibility.

Which are the best ones out there? (Indian manufacturers only)

OTG generally e-mails the invoice at the time of billing as well. You may search for the e-mail on the ID you've provided them.
Or, you could visit the store and ask them to provide you with a duplicate invoice (I hope). They store the customer details in a database, so they can surely track your data through your name/phone number (at least that's what the guys at the OTG store in Thane did at the time of billing my purchases recently).

Falco Liberty 2 boots and Zeus Dark Rider Jeans.
The Falco boots are pretty good. The ones I have are more touring type but also have a low visual signature for daily use. A whole Saturday in office did compress my feet a little but I am cursed with feet like a reptile; wide and almost webbed lol. But it works.
The jeans are actually good but I have not used mine at all. I modded them to 43" length and shifted the reflective strip outside and then promptly lost some weight before I could actually use them. Now I am trying to sell em off so I can buy a smaller size as having my arse float in a loose pair of pants when I am riding is a nono. I will definitely buy the same ones in a smaller size.

"Washing Textile JacketHand Wash is recommended for stains. In a large basin sink, mix warm-hot water with liquid detergent. Bug strikes and road debris are best removed with a soft bristled toothbrush. DO NOT use any form of detergent, bleach, automotive cleaner, or dry cleaning chemicals. These items will damage the garment!
                                Drying Textile Jackets
Textile Jackets should be allowed to drip dry only. DO NOT use a machine dryer, direct sunlight, hair dryers or any type of heater during the drying process."

But I did not wash the liner as I hardly used it, plus I was a little worried that I may damage the thermal liner by soaking it in water.

                                Hope this helps
