guys, I checked the Indian store for riding pants, they start around 6K INR and good knee guards starts around 2.5-3K range.

My budget is 4-4.5K for riding pant and 2K for knee guard .

I checked some closeout site and amazon.com to buy it from there as one of my colleague is currently on business visit in USA(austin, tx) and would return next week.

On Amazon good rated riding pants are priced $70 and knee guards around $40 including Alpinestarts's .

Please suggest me how and where to buy, gears will be used only for occasional touring and group rides and will be my first purchase. ( I have solace jacket, gloves and steel toe leather safety boot ankle height)

Can I buy here in India inside my budget? yes then please suggest store/brands.
or can I try my luck with USA products.

Few days left for USA purchase . Appreciate any help and suggestion.

    Thanks
If possible get it from US because you have lots of options to choose from and its cheaper to buy a product there than to buy the same product in India.

I would also recommend riding pants than the knee guards mainly because the abrasion protection the pants offer is highly useful. Regular jeans will be torn in fraction of seconds when coming in contact with road at decent speeds.

But I dont know if you can find good pants for 4-4.5k, you mightve to extend it a bit. Apart from amazon.com you can look at revzilla, motorcycle-superstore, sportbiketrackgear and bikebandit.com and see if you can find what you are looking for.

Regarding stores in India, I think you will find all the info in this thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...res-india.html

    Good luck with the purchase!

Hi Guys, after going through many suggestions/posts from this thread I recently bought my riding gears. I am very much impressed with Aspida Nemesis jacket with SAS-Tech protectors, these protectors are flexible and takes the shape of your body which makes them very comfortable and scores very high on protection criteria as well. Aspida Ares gloves were no brainer for me because I have already read many long term reviews of these gloves and for some guys they lasted for more than 40k km. I was very confused regarding Knee guards, after going through many reviews and personally checking more than 10-12 knee guards I zeroed on Aspida Bionic for 2 reasons, first being it completes my Aspida Kit and 2nd is that they are the only good looking CE level-1 certified knee guard I could find in brick and mortar shop in my budget, I was very firm on taking riding gears from physical shop rather than online merchant as I wanted to try each and every gear before buying.

            1. Helmet: LS2 Modular helmet, cost Rs. 5500.
            2. Gloves: Aspida Ares Full Gauntlet Leather Gloves, cost 3825.
            3. Jacket: Aspida Nemesis - comes with Sas-tec protection, cost 7000.
            4. Knee Guard: Aspida Bionic External Knee guard with CE Level 1 protection – 3500.Click image for larger version

Hope it's not too late. The thing with riding pants (just like any other riding gears) is that fit will not be the same for all.

With riding pants inseam length would be an issue even if the waist size is right. With integrated armours that mean you are looking at knee armours being in the wrong position which would be a pin to fix.
Also since these brands don't have a presence in india any qc issues (assuming your friend misses them) will have to be corrected by you.

I would suggest you take a look at rynox advento pants (slightly outside your budget) but with the kneeslap mechanism the knee armour fit wouldnt be an issue. You could also try it out personally for any fit issues an d have the assurance of having it fixed under warranty if premature wear occurs.

Not sure about the weather in your city or the traffic conditions but the rynox stealth evo is a touring jacket so it wouldn't be good for primary city use.

The tbg would be a slight better choice since its a mix of mesh and textile.

If you are currently in bangalore or planning to go there head to Let's Gear Up. Last time I went there they had both the jackets (though tbg one didn't have the usual sizes).

              Hi dude

I am planning to get a riding jacket by this month. Confused between TBG adv breed and nemesis with sastech. Wasn't looking at nemesis before because I think it came with knox.

Could you let us know more about the jacket. Specifically the quality of the mesh, armours, the armour coverage, any straps provided to customize the fit of the armours. Also are you planning on upgrading the back armour?

If you have noticed any shortcomings about the jacket please let me know about those too.

Sorry for the multitude of questions but I was looking at tbg which is no longer in stock in my size and now nemesis has become a more serious contender.

I will try to answer all your questions based on my 1 month experience with this jacket and details I gathered before buying this jacket -
                • Regarding quality of mesh - Nemesis has wider mesh (bigger holes) for maximum ventilation so you will feel ventilated even in stop and go traffic unlike Rynox Tornado which has micro mesh which has bit less ventilation but I think should be more rigid. While purchasing I checked Rynox tornado as well and I liked it very much but as I also have an old Cramster breezer which has micro mesh so I did not go for micro mesh this time. For comparison I am putting a side by side pic of both of my jackets, you can observe the difference in mesh size if you zoom in the photo (silver one is cramster and black is nemesis).

                • One more thing that I observed that nemesis's reflectors are not as effective as Cramster's or Tornado's reflector, here again you have a side by side comparison of reflectors, you can see that nemesis reflector does not reflect light as well as the other jacket.

                • Now coming to protection - This is where I really like nemesis, it has Sas-Tec protectors and good coverage for shoulder and elbow, back protector is nice and thick. I don't have any plan of upgrading the back protector as of now but in-case you want to then you can get level 2 SAS-Tac protectors for around 1500-1700 from solace website.

Sas-Tec armor is considered to be a progressive reactive armor in that it hardens to a degree sufficient to counter the force. The material prevents trauma to the human body by three methods:
                1. Shock Absorption: Material absorbs impact energy through phase change (hardening).
                2. Shock Delay: Material delays the transmittance of some shock to the human body over a longer period of time.
                3. Dissipation: Impacts are dissipated over larger areas of the body.

You can get more info about armours here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle_armor
                • This jacket comes with rain and thermal liner, I used it once with rain liner during moderate rain for around 1hour and it protected me very well from rain, water was able to seep-in just near the tummy area, this is where the rain liner ends and leaves a gap, apart from that my chest, back and arms were completely dry.

                • Strap is given with 2 point adjustment to customise the fit of armours however, I would love to have velcro for adjustment which would allow me multiple settings rather than just 2 in current scenario, I would suggest you to short list 3-4 jacket based on the protection you want and then try all those to find which one fits perfectly. At the end of the day protectors will protect you only if they are in correct place, ill fitted jacket is of no use.

                    Hi Ankit,
I bought these gloves and knee guards just 2 weeks back so I won't be able to present a comprehensive review but will try to give an opinion based on initial experience-

                    1. Aspida Ares: These are full gauntlet leather gloves which covers your wrist as well and overlaps with riding jacket sleeves to give good protection for wrist as well along with your palm and knuckles. It has carbon fiber protection for knuckles and fingers, dual layer leather protection for palm, as palm is one of the areas that come in contact with road during a crash, three way good quality velcro straps are given to tighten the gloves. I am satisfied with the leather quality and stitching till now; in couple of reviews I read that stitching lasts for more than 40k kms. I live in Pune, currently weather is very pleasant so I did not face any issue like heavy sweating or discomfort in heat but not sure how they will fare in summers. I did not have to break-in the gloves, as they were very soft and comfortable from day one. I tried Biking Brotherhood gloves as well which has carbon fiber protection for wrist as well but as I did not find any long term ownership review of those gloves so was not sure about the stitching quality.

One thing I noticed after using these leather gloves is the lack of feedback I get when driving, for first few days I find it difficult to operate clutch, breaks and handle bar buttons as I was not able to identify how much force do I need to apply but now i am getting used to these gloves and should be able to use them easily in a few days. I think this will be a problem with all the gloves if you do not have any experience of using leather gloves but it does not take more than 1 week or 2 to get used to of it.

                    2. Aspida Bionic Knee guards: These are no doubt one of the best-looking CE EN1621-1 rated external knee guards. I was looking for CE approved knee guards but could not find any other apart from this one in the price range of below 4000. I checked at-least 10-12 knee guards in price range of 600-2000 but they all had normal plastic protection. Cramster has one good knee guard that comes with shatterproof plastic for around 1800 but I choose this one because of its looks and CE protection advantage. I tried Moto-tech knee guards as well (Rs.4000) but find it overly priced in comparison to Aspida.
One of the best advantages of Aspida is that these are Bionic so it's easy to walk with them. These are quite big so very well covers the knee and shin area. Comes with memory foam for better impact absorption and washable comfort liners.
For adjustment Aspida has given straps with locking mechanism rather than Velcro. I have used these guards around 4-5 times till now but still couldn't find best setting for adjustable straps, if I keep it too tight then I starts to feel the pain in knee caps and behind my knees after 20-30 minutes of ride and If I keep them loose then they keep on slipping below my knee in stop and go traffic although you can avoid this problem if you wear riding boots with these knee guards as in that case knee guards will rest on top of riding boots which will prevent it from sliding down (as shown in pic below).

The TRG2 are great. Never got a chance to use them. But my friends who did say it's great. I however got to pick the DSG Primal. Had a crash at track day and it did protect my hands. Went to a cobbler and he patched it up with some leather and I'm back touring again. So yes from my experience the DSGs are amazing. TRG2 - my friends say it's amazing when I went to pick it, there were lots of "stitching" issues with them. Couldn't get a proper piece.

Was looking for a budget riding jacket for daily basis for my MOJO . Finally after too much research in INR 4500 bought Spartan Aspida Atlas Sports Jackets from Pro-Biker , Pune .Used it for 40 km and found that the ventilation was quite good and you wont feel it that much heavy with all the protection. I think it should have more reflective part considering night driving but overall its good at this price

Will get a knee guard first as many rides are scheduled in current and coming months .
