    1. Almost finalized on Solace Coolpro V2.0. But availability is a factor. One of the dealers in Kolkata has a Solace S30 and the right size for me. Putting aside the technical differences, is there any real world difference between the Coolpro and S30? I mean, if I am not able to get hold of a Coolpro and have to settle for a S30, what will I be missing?

    2. Full gauntlet gloves in the following order. This pair of gloves will be used very sparingly(maybe 5-6 times in a year). I don't want to compromise on the protection part along with build quality and ventilation. Budget is 5k.

ViaTerra Grid(protection and build wise, this is the one I am more inclined towards, good reviews)
Rynox Storm Evo 2(looks good, positive reviews)
Shima STX(not able to find too many reviews)

Hoping to get some insights urgently as I intend to make the purchases within next week. Thanks in advance!

Have already ordered Solace Coolpro V2.0 and ViaTerra Grid online. Hoping to get the delivery by 17th November. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi, the rynox storm gloves is entirely CE certified gloves while the Viaterra grid has certified knox SPS protection but the entire gloves isn't CE certified by viaterra has the advantage of only bridge (you need to get used to it). Solace cool pro is of Level 2 with sas tec armors and it's top of line product go for it

I'd suggest the Studds Shifter for commutes. I used one for 2+ years and it's quite comfortable and provides decent protection in the city. Wind noise won't bother you much until 80 kph. Honestly, I had never needed to wear ear plugs with this, even at 90-100 kph.

Since you'll be using this helmet a lot, consider spending Rs 400 more and get the Shifter.

There's a reason I'm not opting for the Shifter. I've used 2 shifters, and crashed in one so I'm pretty confident in its quality. But it lacks the chin curtain that the Thunder has.
In Delhi winters I always had a runny nose when I had the Shifter. And coming from a MT Thunder 3, I've been spoilt by the chin curtain on that.

I've used the BBG Tourer extensively and haven't really faced an issue in the quality. But in recent times, I've seen many users complaining that the quality has deteriorated and has become subpar. As for what I'd recommend, I've geard the Shima boots are bang for the buck and definitely worth a buy!

Personally, I've used the ASG SG02 for 3 years, everyday, before the mic decided to give up. But, for ₹2,000 I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend the same to you!

Else, there's one from Route95 which I'm using currently. Bought for ₹1,800 and is going strong!

                  • As a continuation to my older post about buying the wrong Levi's x RE riding jeans, I got the highest end Slim jeans.
It's MRP is 7000, but got on sale via Flipkart at 4600ish.

I had gone to a Levi's showroom and realized that the size 34 was my best fit. I generally wear size 32 Levi's.
This jeans has a lot more cordura and has tough max which the other jeans don't.
Plus, this has the highest amount of polyamides.

It has knee inserts, so have to buy these separately next. Also has hip insert sockets.
Has a very accessible side zip for storing mobile or wallet while riding. The access is brilliant on a riding posture.

The jeans have a baggy look to them given that I went one size up. but they are roomy and the seat is reinforced.
Overall, I feel this is worth 4500-5000, given that you need to buy armor separately.

Got the Solace Coolpro V2.0 and ViaTerra Grid delivered on time. Fits beautifully, the fit and finish is awesome for both the products.

Could not provide an update due to an accident. I was supposed to ride to Darjeeling along with 6 colleagues on 26th November. Just 65 km.s from my home and the accident happened on NH 19. A cargo vehicle in front of me suddenly stopped with nothing in front of it and the little space through which I could escape through was blocked by a fellow biker who also suddenly stopped without any reason. Result - I banged into the rear of the cargo vehicle and fall down. Though I could reduce the speed to a great extent, the impact was so much that there is nothing left in the frontal portions of my bike. My face collided with the vehicle and the helmet(Studds Ninja 3G) took the impact and the internals of the helmet broke due to the brute force of the impact. I bled profusely from my lips and nose and had 4 stitches. My riding gears ensured that I was otherwise unhurt. I am still recovering and pain is there - I still don't have any sense in my left cheek.
My accident has convinced a few people around me to buy proper riding gears - specially a good full face helmet. Ninja 3G is not a very costly one but is very sturdy - full marks to Studds. Had I not been wearing a good helmet, God knows what would have happened with me.
I am still alive and to tell the incident only because I had all the riding gears on. The cost of my riding gears is more than the resale value of my bike. But that's a price worth paying. I know it's been iterated numerous times but please wear proper gears. And a full face helmet is a must no matter the what the season and occasion is. In India, no matter how good you are as a rider or how good your bike is consist of only a portion of the probability of you returning home alive as there are surprises and idiots waiting at regular intervals!

As I am not active in any social media(apart from Whatsapp), just wanted to share my experience here. Once I recover, I will again come to this page for your valuable inputs on a helmet. Ride safe till then.

Studds does have their own cheap bluetooth accessory with speaker, check it out. If I remember correctly, there are oodles of some other local brands out there too in the 2k range, give it a try.

                        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                        • I'm looking for a good pair of Full Gauntlet Gloves that can handle the occasional track day as well as everyday use. My budget is around 8K. I don't need them to be waterproof per se, but if I should get caught in showers, then the gloves should be able to make a recovery and not be ruined. Preferably leather. Any suggestions for the gloves and sources I can buy them from?

Also, has anyone shipped off Revzilla directly to India sometime in the recent past? Any success with this?

                          • Hey guys, would you guys recommend Solace cube pro gloves. I am getting it for 3100 and my main use would be highways/touring. I own a solace defender plus for more than 2 years and I am quite happy with the quality but a little bit sceptical because I did not have a good experience with Tarmac full gauntlet gloves and solace did'nt keep the cube pro long in production. Any help would be appreciated.

                              • Hi everyone, I have shortlisted the following helmets as my next purchase. Budget is 5K. Requirement is Dual visor and Pinlock.
SMK Twister(Pinlock pre-fitted but the sun visor's positioning is awkward)
Axor Apex(Pinlock needs to be purchased separately)
                                Shiro SH881(No sun visor)

Issue is that none of the helmets are ISI certified although all of those have certifications which are much above ISI benchmark. But, due to some strange logic in India, non-ISI helmets are illegal - ECE/DOT certifications do not matter. So, if they cops are out there to make some quick bucks, I will be a sitting duck!
Can anyone advise whether I can legally wear a helmet which has international certifications - without worrying about fines. In that case, I have no other option but to look for lesser priced and inferior alternatives.
