I will never advocate lidless riding, be it nights or day... if you have a reason to buy eyewear to ride lidless may be its a better idea to walk or take the car.... if you are promoting a eye wear... send some to me, I will write a honest review about it!

If it was about promoting some eye wear then I would have been more than happy to start a thread for the same...but then thanks for your views...you will be the first to know about such review, if only there was any..

Joe Rocket Phoenix gloves

Hi Guys,

My 3 month old Moto Mesh gloves are coming apart at the seams and I plan to buy Joe Rocket Phoenix from here:

I wanted to know if anyone has used the Phoenix glove and your opinions about the same or joe rocket gloves in general.

Any alternate good glove in the same price range (except Raven) would also be appreciated.

Have not used them, but checked the link. Seems good one. These days you get lots of good riding gloves, so it won't really matter. Just make sure the palm has reinforced leather and pick the style to your taste.

BTW, My motomesh started coming apart within a month of purchase. Was cussing, but to my relief those materials coming apart were the soft towel-lookalike thing on the back of the thumbs. I removed them completely as there is another material underneath this. Do a good job and it'll look like new again . Been using it like this for almost a year now. But now the finger portion where it comes in contact with clutch lever has holes . Nevermind, I still use them for daily office ride. For other rides I use the more expensive GRP gloves. You can do likewise .

no i don't use riding jackets while goin for work.....coz i don't have likeminded people here.....
who look at jacket and say where r u goin now for a race .........i judt wear my adidas jacket to work..

Dude, no offence but I think thats a really silly way of looking at things. You will always have people ready to pass a comment or two on riding gear. God forbid but if you have a spill, there is a good chance that you will really hurt yourself & the same people will turn around and say "what was the point of him having a riding jacket if he is going to wear a normal jacket to office?". Be the bigger person. Its better to be thick skinned.

For the record I wear my Nero with Cramster gloves everyday to office. And I work in the corporate office of a large multi-national IT company.

Hey guys...I wanted to buy a good pair of eye wear for night riding and driving...help me decide on one..

I use a pair of fasttrack glasses at times which are light blue. They are well suited for early morning / late evening riding if I need to ride with my visor up (usually to ask for directions). Will post a picture later if possible. You will have to hunt around quite a bit though to find a pair suitable for night riding.

Foam backpad vs. CE spine pad. Which is more protective. Can anyone suggest me a good jacket at about 5k. If needed i will increased my budget. Please help me out. I will be using the jacket for everyday commute. Mandatory that it should have a waterproof lining.

Tried it a couple of times but I wouldnt recommend it. These would probably be your best bet if you insist on wearing something to protect your eyes in the night and want your visor up.

The Fasttrack pair I have has a wrap around type (ensures that dust doesnt enter) and the frame is made of plastic. Feels flimsy but Ive been using it for 2 1/2 years without any issues whatsoever. Serves my purpose very well. Will post a picture tonight.

a proper back protector protects against hyperextension injury of the spine and hence very much recommended. whereas the foam back protector can only save you from abrasions at the best.so stay away from foam ones if you can afford a proper back protector. proper back protector comes in different sizes. try a size that you are comfortable with and try it with a jacket. alpinestars costs 4.5k, cramster ones cost 1.8k and pro grip ones costs 2.5k. they are worth every paisa you spend on it.

for 5k you can look for mesh as well as textile riding jackets. from cramster breezer 2, pulse and raptor. from DSG phoenix , nero. mesh are more comfortable for summer but they dont have waterproof liner.textile jackets have waterproof liner but they can get very hot and uncomfortable in summers. according to me since you live in Mumbai its better to buy a mesh one which will be good for you all through the year and about the water proof liner, i must add that you can buy a good quality rain jacket and wear it over the jacket. here if you think that the textile jackets are better then you are mistaken, the waterproof liner in these jackets act as both the thermal liner and waterproof liner as well, which means that you cannot use the liner during summer and have to carry it along separately.
